Lively diner dishing up classic American fare from burgers to pies from its tiny counter since 1947.- Google
People talk about banana cream pie, steak burger, slice of pie, hamburger and egg salad

Excellent old diner that's a throw back to the days when menus were limited but good. Cash only and limited seating so be prepared. Apple pie is out of this world.

The Apple Pan is within walking distance of where I live, yet I've only eaten pies there for the last 2 years--albeit deliciously, gooey, and warm boysenberry, apple, and banana cream pies. It was at the recommendation of Jonathan Gold's 99 Eats that I decided to brave the line and try the hickoryburger at The Apple Pan, and I'm so glad I did. The hickoryburger had a nice tangy sauce and the cheese was melted perfectly, making this one messy but super enjoyable burger. Oh yea, the fries are perfectly crispy here, and I would go back just for the fries as well. Last but not least, with a place called Apple Pan how can you not get the apple pie...mmm. I really loved this old school diner, and I highly recommend you try it!

My wife is from LA and anytime we are in CA, we're close enough to make our way to Applepan. The hickory burger with cheese is the ticket. Prepare to stand and wait for a seat and hopefully a few will open up together so you can sit with others in your party. It's a classic place in LA and worth waiting for.

Very good but not great. The hickory burger was delicious, the fries adequate, and the apple and pecan pies (a la mode) divine. Charming for days despite the cloud of smoke. The only drawbacks are the immense hype surrounding the place that raises expectations to a unobtainable level and rather steep prices ($8 burgers and $6 slices of pie).

A rare treat indeed! Like the Green Thumb in Canoga Park, or DuPars, the original building and decor! - places I have not visited since the 1960's with my Dad when he was younger than I am now! It was great then, I will edit this when I make it back again!

Entering this place immediately takes you back to a time when LA was at its prime. Service is snappy (don't expect smiles) and the food is just what you want from a hole-in-the-wall diner. Expect a confrontation with other wannabe diners waiting for a seat along the outside walls. Recommend: Apple pie à la mode
