The last couple days have been horrible. I had to make something that I felt confident about, and the Inktober thing takes me completely out of my comfort zone. So here's another arm/hand study.

Precious.

Day 9 of 31.

I learned today that the G+ communities are getting shut down in 2019. That was depressing. I get such nice response here. I'm sad that it's going away. Facebook, ArtStation, DeviantArt, Instagram... They're not the same.

I also thought all day about what to do with the prompt word "Precious". First I flashed on Lord of the Rings, but then thought--"REally?!? Oh, c'mon--you can do better than that, Corey!!!"

Then I realized that my niece had a baby, and I had babies on the brain all day.

So I did this in Procreate on an iPad Pro with a Pencil, all with specifically designated "ink brushes". Which was challenging for me. Because I don't have the chops to create some graphic-novel-level illustration like Frank Miller or some other such luminary. Keeping it simple is challenging enough!!

I thought about adding in more detail, but it just seemed to detract from the story. So I'm letting the simplicity speak for itself.

'nuff said.

Star.

Day 8 of 31.

<GROAN>.

Not every entry in my Inktober collection is going to be a work of art. This is a perfect example.

I couldn't think of anything other than a starfish for today's word prompt: "Star". I also kept flashing on Evita and the "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina" moment for some reason. I have no idea...

So I found an image of Patti Lupone's original Evita, and I combined them.

And this is not something I'm incredibly proud of, but even doing this little ditty was educational--I learned about cartooning a bit and that was useful. This, in conjunction with the previous "ink" entries tells me that I am lacking in my "ink education".

Woot! I got interviewed for DeviantArt's premiere theatre artisans group, Theatre Artists, in September. It's finally live!

I thought I'd share it because it's about Costume Design specifically and my educational experience in a nutshell.

Exhausted.

Day 7 of 31.

This is part ink, part "other digital media"... This one was the hardest yet. I'm not happy with it any more than I was happy with yesterday's. It ended up being part ink, part painting, part drawing... Ugh. Inkwash is not my forté.

But that's sorta the point of Inktober, isn't it? Being deliberate and trying something new. So. I'm gonna win eventually. :)
