This is nice.
Here is the kit for my recent graph theory project:

Math for eight-year-olds: graph theory for kids!

Print out to double-sided, and then fold each page in half. Place the folded pages one after the other (not nested) inside the cover page.

Mark your calendars to come visit Mountain View’s first authentic open-air German Holiday Market (Weihnachtsmarkt). On Saturday Dec. 14th, Civic Center Plaza in downtown Mountain View will be transformed into a European village bustling with merchants, food, entertainment and fun for the whole family.

Enjoy the traditional delights of the season, including "Glühwein" (mulled wine) and hot cider, roasted nuts, "Lebkuchen" (gingerbread) and other baked items, as well as traditional German food and beer. The market will also offer holiday shopping opportunities with unique handmade gifts from local artisans, live music on stage and children’s activities. Admission to this community event is free.

WhatIF the US shutdown happened elsewhere?
How would the press cover the event if the same event occurred in for instance Iran. An interesting idea by Slate although the execution could be better. Two excerpts:

But the pleasant autumn weather disguises a government teetering on the brink. Because, at midnight Monday night, the government of this intensely proud and nationalistic people will shut down, a drastic sign of political dysfunction in this moribund republic.

While the country’s most recent elections were generally considered to be free and fair (despite threats against international observers), the current crisis has raised questions in the international community about the regime’s ability to govern this complex nation of 300 million people, not to mention its vast stockpiles of weapons of mass destruction.

We can see on this animations the airplanes commercial flight everyday.

The main today trafic is still in US ans Europe but Eastern countries are growing and pull the aircraft market.

We can see also that during the second part of the night there are far fewer planes flying.

I'm not gonna lie, this kind of freaked me out, but it's still pretty cool. The soundtrack definitely adds to the eerie factor.
