Frequent Urination and Chronic Kidney Disease
Frequent Urination and Chronic Kidney DiseaseUrine is the waste products made in the kidneys. When kidneys cannot work well, patients may be affected with frequent urination. Also, other urine changes, such as less urine output, protein in urine etc may follow with this symptoms.

What is Frequent Urination?

Frequent urination, where you feel an urge to pass urine more often than usual, is not just a a nuisance and a cause of poor sleep, it can be a symptom of an underlying medical condition. Polyuria is a medical term that refers to the excessive passing of urine (frequent urination). Frequent urination can be a symptom of many different disease and it is a common sign of kidney disease.

How are Frequent Urination and Chronic Kidney Disease Associated?

The frequent urination is associated with CKD, because kidneys work to form urine.

In order to produce urine, the kidneys do not simply pick waste products out of the bloodstream and send them along for final disposal: there are more than a million of nephrones which exists in each kidney. There are mainly 3 steps, namely, filtration, reabsorption, and secretion.

In the step of filtration, the glomoerulus can use the high pressure to forces out the liquid part of the blood, including dissolved substances, such as urea, salts, glucose etc, The filtrate from the glomerulus passes into the renal capsule and moves into the renal tubule.

The next step is reabsorption, in which molecules and ions will be reabsorbed back into blood. What remains in the glomerulus after this process has taken place is known as the tubular fluid and this is what will pass through to the collecting duct to form urine.

The frequent urination is uasually associated with this step. When kidneys are damaged, its reabsorbed function will decrease. As a result, frequent urination may occur.

At the step of secretion, the waste products such as creatinine, BUN will be removed from blood and be urinated out with excessive water, which forms the urine eventually.

What Tests will Be Recommended for Frequent Urination?

If you are suffering form requent urination, what tests will be recommended? You doctor may suggest you to undergo the following tests:

- Imaging tests: to look inside the body.

- Urine analysis: to determine whether any abnormal compounds are present.

Excessive urination could result simply from too much liquid intake before going to bed (usually the case in the young), or it could be a symptom of a larger problem, such as sleep apnea, hyperparathyroidism, chronic renal failure, urinary incontinence, bladder infection, interstitial cystitis, diabetes, congestive heart failure, benign prostatic hyperplasia, ureteral pelvic junction obstruction, uterine fibroids, eating disorders, diabetes insipidus or prostate cancer.

Within all the people who go to their doctor with excessive urination at night, 70% report having frequent urination, 50% report having retention of urine, and 38% report having painful urination.

By far, the hardest part of dieting is dealing with hunger, a basic human drive that is difficult to ignore, especially when your belly starts to rumble and cry out, “Give me more food!”

If you feel like your appetite has a mind of its own, you're not alone. Taking a look at your habits and revamping your daily rituals can give you a new lease on your relationship with food. And of course, the best way to go about this is using natural appetite suppressants!

This may not be your preliminary choice of treatment if you are the self-conscious type, but a number of over-the-counter lotions and shampoos designed to kill lice and crabs are available in the drug shops, and you could ask at the local drug store.

Crabs or pubic lice usually spread through contact, sexual or otherwise, or from sharing infected garments and beddings for example. Besides the pubic area, these parasites can also infest the armpits and even the eyelashes.

Crabs cause intense itching in the infested area and may be the cause of other infections if you scratch the area and expose the skin. You could of course seek medical attention for the condition, but in the majority of cases some established home remedies for #pubiclice   will be all you need (and likely prefer!) to fight the infestation.
