Is it possible, when the Sun dies off, that it would take a few years for the Earth to cool down; or is it somewhat instantaneous, give or take 8 minutes? True, we won't be around to see it, but I was curious as to how things might devolve after the Sun goes on it's final voyage.

+julian k Sorry, there's no giant monolith, informing billions of smaller ones to increase Jupiter's mass, thus igniting it into a star. Currently the human race is still at level "0" at achieving anything of this sort.

Can axis' change over time. Currently, our axis is around 33 degrees. Since I was not around when Pangea was shaking up our world,  I was curious. What if over time, the axis of the world went from 33 degrees to say 0 degrees. Meaning that the world would shift onto it's side and rotate that way. That would mean different climates all around. Water might shift, etc. Is there any kind of evidence that that could happen?
OR did it happen already?

I guess what brought this up was the recent Earthquake in Nepal. I was thinking a shift of tectonic plates on a massive scale could hypothetically shift our axis. But, then again, I don't know enough about the whole dynamics would come together to dramatically alter our axis.

I'm just in awe of the power of the Earthquake and any possible tsunami associated with it and how they affect our planet.

You know you'd had enough Imodium when: You hear a voice from within, saying, "We're good... No more Imodium needed". Thanx. Then, you wonder where the "voice" is coming from!!! #Notfeelingsogood #Voicesfrombeyondthethroat #drinkmorewater!!!

What is frustrating me, right now is looking at the score of the POR V MEM game and realizing that POR's #defense has yet to show up.

They are allowing MEM to just demoralize us IN OUR OWN HOUSE!!!

My weapons looked at me as I was disassembling them for their cleaning and they looked "indignant". "How dare you strip us down and not cover us up". I had a good laugh. They however did not like the wire brush and made sure I got nicked by it. Oh well. Next time, I'll be more careful. But, they appreciated the cleaning and the grease.

Galaxies are often found in clusters, with many 'red and dead' neighbours that stopped forming stars in the distant past. Now an international team of astronomers, led by Andra Stroe of Leiden Observatory and David Sobral of Leiden and the University of Lisbon, have discovered that these comatose galaxies can sometimes come back to life. If clusters of galaxies merge, a huge shock wave can drive the birth of a new generation of stars – the sleeping galaxies get a new lease of life. The scientists publish their work in the journal Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society.
The Royal Astronomical Society, encourages and promotes the study of astronomy, solar-system science, geophysics and closely related branches of science. The RAS organizes scientific meetings in Burlington House, its London HQ, and throughout the country, publishes international research and review journals, recognizes outstanding achievements by the award of medals and prizes, maintains an extensive library, supports education through grants and...

MEMO to knives: Stop cutting me, it hurts when you do that.

MEMO from knives: We're so sorry. We didn't get the MEMO, until AFTER the fact. Could you provide us with at least a 24 hr notice, so we don't get overly excited, when we feel your warm hand caressing us??? Is that TOO MUCH to ask

Response to knives request for a 24 hr notice: That is acceptable.

I either heard or read, recently, where there was a "tidal wave in space", that shook up a few galaxies. Wouldn't that affect our solar system in the next few hundred yrs???

+Rhys Taylor Oh. Thanx for clearing that up, for me. I was a bit mystified by the use of the words "tidal wave" when dealing with space. I always thought you had to have water for a tidal wave. Your explanation cleared things up, quit a bit.

Introduction
Love to research medical topics, political topics. I think there should be term limits to get new ideas and new people in office. No "seat" should be thought of as "family owned". I strongly believe there needs to be a program dealing with all the disabled individuals issues. We also need to be more accepting of those with mental health issues, instead of treating them like they are they are unwanted.
