For the history buffs out there, we thought we'd share a little historical information on the garage door and how it has advanced over the years for #TBT.

It all came into fruition throughout the 1920's. Auto production was increasing, vehicles were becoming more popular and more affordable. North Americans were trading in their horses and buggies for gas-powered vehicles. Garages with doorways sized to accommodate the height and width of cars and trucks were soon being built with wooden swing-out barn doors.

By 1959, the production of fibreglass doors were introduced and becoming popular. However, consumer's preferences continued to evolve. Between 1980 and 1999, the steel raised panel garage door spurred a boom in garage door production. And by the year 2000, garage door manufacturers were forced to do away with old, boring designs and raise the bar when it came to offering new colours and styles.

At Crowfoot & Cross Town Garage Door Services we're proud to offer garage door products that are second to none. Visit our showroom today!

Looks can be deceiving. From a distance you see wood. Up close, it's a sturdy, durable, low-maintenance steel.

The Amarr Classica door collection are premium steel carriage house doors. Precision-shaped in fresh, clean, classic carriage house styles that go up and down like traditional garage doors. Three section tall designs, instead of four, helps to deliver a more authentic carriage house look.

The doors featured in the photo are the Northampton design with Madeira windows in Walnut with Canterbury hinges and handles.

Deception never looked so good. Give us a call for more details 403-250-5250.

Garage door sounding noisier than usual?

Garage doors require lubrication regularly. To keep your door functioning in optimal condition between service visits, use a lubricant like Dura-Glide twice a year on all moving parts such as hinges, bearings and springs.

Don't have the time? Noise isn't going away after using a lubricant? If parts are worn, rusted or have shifted, a maintenance visit may be required. Give us a call today 403-250-5250! We're here to help.

Interference from the remote control to the garage door opener is an increasing problem these days. You may find that you literally have to stand right underneath the head of the machine at times to get the remote to communicate to open and close the garage door. Both an inconvenience and nuisance.

This is called interference and there are many reasons why this could be happening:

1. Visor - Metal in the visor or roof of a car can cause interference.
2. Weak Battery - Try replacing it with a new one.
3.LED Light Bulbs - Some generate radio emissions. Try a different brand to see if that solves the problem.
4. Cell Towers - You have have to convert your garage door opener's frequency in order to bypass this interference.
5. Metal Buildings - You may need to install an antenna extension.
6. Control Panel Wires - If there is a short or other issue in the wires to the control panel, it can cause a range issue.
7. RF Interference - Certain electrical devices can radiate/emit interference. This includes anything that is plugged into an electrical outlet. Please keep in mind the device can be brand new, or it can be an item that has been in use for quite a while. The item may continue to work properly so it's difficult to know if it's the cause of the problem. Perform a power down test to locate the source.

The solution, in most cases, will be a process of elimination to get to the root of the problem. If you've tried all of the above steps and are still experiencing interference, give our office a call at 403-250-5250.

The Elite Series in Charcoal by Steel-Craft Door Products Ltd:

Add sophistication to any home with a distinctive deep matte charcoal colour. These doors have a low-maintenance finish that requires no staining or painting. The low gloss, textured surface will keep the colour beautiful at any angle thanks to their solar reflective coating. This special coating system reflects the sun's rays rather than absorbing them to avoid extensive heat build-up. As a result, the temperature reached on the steel surface is significantly reduced. This coating technology increases the lifetime of the door and is backed by Steel-Craft's industry leading warranty.

Choose from Ranchcraft, Carriagecraft (shown in photo) and Flush.

For more details visit our showroom at Unit 10, 3620 - 29 Street NE. Visit our website www.crosstowndoors.com for hours of operation.

How do I align the safety reverse sensors on my Lift Master garage door opener?

Please watch the following video or consult your owners manual. This is a common problem during Spring and Summer as homeowners are cleaning and moving things around in the garage and they may accidentally get bumped. This will throw off the communication and result in a garage door that doesn't want to close.

If you don't have a Lift Master garage door opener, please consult your owners manual or search online for the manufacturer instructions as they may vary slightly between brands.
