"In the Bible Belt, Offering Atheists a Spiritual Home - NYTimes.com" http://feedly.com/k/19WilSF

I knew many Catholics who were Catholic for the community and that's what I missed when I decided that I did not believe in transsubstantiation and no birth control and left the church. I am a non-Catholic Christian now but I would like to see more "churches" like this crop up. Instilling a sense of virtue and self improvement combined with duty and loyalty to a code and community would be good for society.

Must read. A very well written article on how stress effects behavior and learning. Changes a lot of my thinking.
THE FIRST TIME THAT principal Jim Sporleder tried the New Approach to Student Discipline at Lincoln High School in Walla Walla, WA, he was blown away. Because it worked. In fact, it worked so well ...

What's the correct query clause to get all the transactions from March? The correct answer is `"2012-03-01T05" <= eventTimestamp < "2012-04-01T04"`. Notice how the timeshift for the begging of March is different from the end. Getting this right is mind bendingly difficult. This blog post and the Lumenize/tzTime libraries were written to make this easy.

The future is extremely hard to see through the lens of the present. It's very easy to unconsciously dismiss the first versions of something as frivolous or useless. Or as stupid ideas.""
For some cruel reason, I keep finding myself in the position of being introduced to things in their infancy (often before they are even launched), dismissing them as stupid, and then watching them bec...

Kenny was professional, personable, and knowledgable when I brought the car in for service. However, they went above and beyond... He asked if I had a ride home when I went to drop off the car. I said I was going to walk but he worried about me crossing Capital blvd so he loaned his own car to one of the technicians to give me a ride.
