It was a glorious weekend.  After days of the cool and rain that portends deep Autumn, we had a warm and sunny Sunday, perfect for the #StreetsAlive   event that took place in Lincoln.  Thanks +Milton McNeeLee  for sharing this photo of 14th street, closed to motor vehicles for the afternoon.  Fresh air and exercise are an important part of a healthy lifestyle.  This event also promotes a sense that the community is invested in each other, that we feel better when we support each other, that we're healthier as a team.  Thanks to #HarrisAcademyofTheArts   for encouraging us to attend, and to all those who were out there, walking, riding, skating, dog-minding, and otherwise providing a good example.  Hope to see you there next year!

Summer  Greetings to All as we approach the longest day of the year!  As you can see thanks to +Milton McNeeLee , I've been enjoying my garden this season.  Here we have been blessed, so far, with adequate moisture and moderate temperatures.  The rain we've had recently makes for good weeding conditions; get a good hold and the whole root comes out.  I wouldn't give up my outside time for anything, but precautions must be taken for immediate safety and long-term wellbeing.  To keep the sun off (and it helps with bugs too), I wear a brimmed hat and summer-weight cotton shirtsleeves.  Choose proper footwear, depending on your activity.  To avoid aggravation and injury, use the appropriate tools for your tasks, and keep them in good repair. I put my cellphone in a zipper baggie to keep it clean; you can see and hear through the plastic just fine.  Summer is a time to be active, and playtime is important, so get out there and Recreate!

Happy Spring!  Glad to be with you on this Vernal Equinox.  It's been a hard winter; sunlight and sprouts are quite welcome.  Flowers are inevitable, a verdant stage for the activities of this Year of the Horse.
