I have a sony dash personal internet viewer. I'm not a real big fan of how it can view the internet. Basically you have tiny little flash window that is bound by the restrictions of flash. (Basically I want to read news from sites to make widgets, however the site has to allow the explicit permission form the Sony reader site.)

So I figure its a Sony device , why not change the firmware. Well, the sony dash doesn't have any real way to execute files other then flash! If we think about hwo flash can load data on the site... well its restricted to lower versions. Sadly It has to be Flash 7 / 8 and it has to be action-script 2.0 (Which doesn't give back any info about the directory structure). However I haven't tried to load any of the action-script 3 api, which willl allow local processes to possibly be executed.

On the other hand I may be able to get serial port access based on this tear down. Thanks to the cubiclegnome teardown

And specs on the serial cable
