QUICK TIP
Create a SAFE environment for the truth. Kids are reluctant to disclose the truth if they know it will be met with criticism, lectures, disappointment or I told you so’s. Instead, recognize that your child will mess up, but use those opportunities as LEARNING events. Hold your child accountable for his behavior but focus more on what he LEARNED from that and how he’ll do things DIFFERENTLY in the future.
