On August 9, 2016 I had Gastric Sleeve Surgery and have lost 103 lbs. I now weigh 120 lbs.

After trying to lose weight over the course of 6 years, I decided to have the surgery because I was unable to lose the weight on my own. I tried paleo diets, medical weight loss diets, non-processed food diets, and I did lose 76 lbs. on my own prior to surgery; but iI was still very heavy and unable to continue to lose weight after many attempts. I always knew that I did not want to live my life as a heavier person because I was very unhappy with myself and the way that I looked for many years. http://bit.ly/2o6ECyk

There is a classic quote from Jonathan Swift:
"man is never so contemplative as when he is at stool:...
I would agree to some extent but I'd add that I think the level of contemplation is even higher when out for a run.

This morning presented a perfect day for a quick run, ahead of the day's activity, and I went out for what I exected to be a quick 3 mile workout. Right at the place, about 2.5 miles is where I had to make a decision on whether to turn left for home (about 1/2 mile away) or take a right and keep going, the opening strains of one of my favorite Bruce Springsteen songs played, and after the rousing guitar riff, he says..."let's go"...and it seemed like he was talking directly to me, so instead of taking that left for home, I opted fo the right turn. I had no idea how much longer I'd go, where I'd go, or how far I'd go, but I began to contemplate such decisions. http://bit.ly/2ymREYn

DECEMBER.The time often seen for gift giving. What are some of those gifts that you are hoping to receive this season? Could it be new clothes, a new car, a new gadget to play with. I'm sure you could come up with many more things.

But let me challenge you to work more towards giving than receiving in this season. There are some gifts that you can give this season that will not cost you a penny but can mean the world to the person receiving it. How about sharing a kind word of thanks to: http://bit.ly/2BeLsr4

It's hard to believe that Halloween has come and gone. I'm sure you're reminded daily, as I am, when I see that unfinished bowl of candy sitting on my kitchen counter. I wish there was a 1-800 number to call that could come and drag the caramel filled chocolate coated SUGAR away! I would give anything to stare around my kitchen and to only be tempted by the organically grown bananas. But unfortunately that's not how life works. That would be far too easy. http://bit.ly/2A66LXN

Happy Holidays! It's that time of year again where families and friends gather and food is in abundance!

For most of us "overeating" is typically a result of holiday dinners. Although this is difficult to avoid there are ways we can "balance" the amount of calories taken in versus the amount of calories we expend.

The guidelines provided should hopefully help you in "balancing" your big holiday meal while staying in shape over the holiday season. http://bit.ly/2AB3qkI
