Hanoi's university is a thousand years old. At the temple of literature students come to 'worship' at the shrines of great teachers and celebrate their graduation. More recent heroes are commemorated in Lenin's statue and Ho Chi Minh's mausoleum. By bus and train we went to the amazing waterworlds of Halong Bay and Tra Nang.

Reached Vietnam on 13th November & travelled with Uyen, our great friend from Birmingham. Around HCM are the Cu Chi tunnels where 16000 'VC' lived underground fighting the Americans at the gates of Saigon; the former presidential palace where the South finally fell in 1975; and the 'War Remnants Museum.'
