It has been over a year.

It feels like forever. It hurts like it was yesterday.

This is a very interesting viewpoint by a very well informed and devoted Muppets fan. It deserves a read.
It is also completely and emphatically wrong IMHO.

Yes, if there is a new show it should absolutely, positively be a new Muppet Show, shot as if the original never went off the air. Every other attempt at a Muppets program has either been a pale imitation of the original series, or an attempt to modernize them without any understanding of what makes them special.

The author of the article fears that doing a show like the original would make the Muppets feel dated. When did this concept first emerge? The concept of things being dated that is. Is Casablanca dated? Maybe we should modernize Citizen Kane? For Pete's Sake you're not going to tell me that the Marx Brothers or Monty Python are still considered funny are you? Yes. They are. They're not dated, they're Timeless.

The author says that while critically panned, the last ABC series wasn't actually that bad. That is not true. It was bad. Very bad. It could have been made with live actors who were not in any way anything other than Human. It was the least Muppet-y Muppets project I've ever seen. It was not funny (except on a few occasions), the Muppets were mean and unkind to each other (again, except for a few times towards the end), and it was filled with missed opportunities to get to know the characters and their world better.

He notes that a Talk Show format would be better than a Variety Show format because there really aren't any Variety Shows anymore. There are several problems with this, and the ABC series showcased them.

First, Talk Shows focus on a Host, a Sidekick, and Guests. This means you will rarely get to see the huge cast of characters the Muppets have to work with. It means many of the characters don't get a chance to interact very often. The Guests will be very limited in appearance as well, and that means they don't interact with that many characters. Finally, the ABC show only featured the Muppets singing together or with the Guest a couple of times. That sucked. That's a staple of the Muppets. Finally, Variety Shows are indeed a thing of the past and look what we're left with. Reality TV was always crap, and now it's no longer really in vogue. Most sitcoms are trite and nothing special. We NEED variety and Variety Shows to come back.

My last note is this; the Muppet Show is what Muppet fans want from the Muppets. It is what we loved. It is what we've shown our kids. It is what made us fans, creates new fans, and the reason Disney shelled out the money for the franchise in the first place. Did Disney buy Marvel and not make Superhero movies? Did they buy Star Wars and not make a new Trilogy? Why the heck did they buy the Muppets if not to make a Muppet Show?

I did a 'Search Community' attempt but came up empty handed. I was wondering if the brain-trust here could help.

I am looking for any information, art, or anything else on Metal Head. My preference would be the original, Maximum, or Extreme, anything but the D20 version. That said, beggars can't be choosers.

Thanks in advance.

Imperial Sector Insignia -

Each Sector of the Third Galactic Imperial has it's own insignia identifying it's government, military, and other official offices. Their insignia appears on their Sector Flag, usually flown along with the Imperial Flag. Imperial Naval starships assigned to a particular sector will be adorned with that sector's insignia for example. It will also appear as a patch on military and government uniforms.

Here for example is the Hinterworlds and Spica Sector emblems (note that the Hinterworlds emblem is official even though the Imperial has no permanent claims in that sector as of the insignia's development).

Imperial Battle Dress - Sector Colors

The polychromatic plating on Imperial Battle Dress is able to change colors to blend in with its surroundings, or to display pre-set patterns such as camouflage.

In addition, all suits are capable of default to Imperial Red during war time, or for reviews, parades, etc. The rest of the time, Battle Dress equipped Imperial Space Marines display what is known as 'Sector Colors', indicating what Sector they operate in. Each Imperial Space Sector has it's own unique color scheme, often matching their Sector Flag.

When deactivated, and stored, Imperial Battle Dress is actually a matte, 'battleship' grey.

Operation: Jumping Jack was a joint project between the Imperial Navy and the Sylean Institute of Jump Dynamics to produce the first known Jump 7 vessel in Charted Space. It was eventually deemed a failure, and the entirety of the approach too dangerous to replicate. All records were redacted,. sealed away, and in some cases destroyed.

The project's head, Imperial Admiral Gomel Draze, was court-marshaled for misuse of his position, and the use of improper procedures during the attempted development of the prototype vessel, the INX-0877 'Jack Flash'.

The entirety of the core development team, the ship's commanding officer, and most of the command crew, are officially 'Missing in Action - Lost and Presumed Dead', after the ship's initial drive activation resulted in a 'misjump'. The vessel disappeared into Jump Space, and was never found.

(The afterward/epilogue of a Traveller campaign I ran years ago. 'Jumping Jack Flash').
