Introduction
For 14 years, Shelley Wood was a journalist and editor at the award-winning cardiology news site, theheart.org, founded by Conceptis Technologies and later acquired by WebMD. She was hired as a medical reporter straight out of grad school in 2000 and went on to led the crackerjack heartwire cardiology news team from 2008 to 2014. In 2013, Shelley was promoted to News Director of Medscape Global's French and German editions. She left the organization in 2014, one year after theheart.org was collapsed into Medscape.com. She continues to do freelance journalism and dabbles in fiction writing from her home in Kelowna, Canada.
