This place is the best. If you're into bloody marys, theirs is a bit pricey, but the amount of pickles that comes with it is worth it. Bologna sandwich is great (a bit on the salty side, but still savory), but their burgers - woof! Probably one of my top three burgers in Chicago. The place can get busy pretty easily, so it's best you get there early or be prepared to wait. Great service.

Friends have been telling me to try Au Cheval for several years now. I have finally made it. I tried the double burger with (thick, thick cut) bacon and fried egg with duck fat fries. It lived up to everything it was made out to be. This could very well be one of my favorite thin, greasy patty burgers in the city. I also had a bite of Au Cheval's signature house-made bologna sandwich. You can not go wrong with either of these choices. There often can be a 1-3 hour wait after 5pm, depending on the day and time you go. It was definitely worth the wait and I am coming back very soon. Give the hostess your name, cellphone number and then have a few cocktails at Haymarket or Lone Wolf. They will call you when it is your turn. Parties greater than 4 are hard to seat in this small venue. No reservations either.

I've been to Au Cheval 3 or 4 times now and every time I've been there is better than the last. Hands down, this place has one of the best burgers in the city. The single is really a double, and the double is a triple, so be careful ordering. The flavor is amazing and it's very juicy. Make sure and add pork belly to it. Have also had the chilaquiles for breakfast and the dish was awesome, as well. Will definitely try the bologna sandwich next. It looks amazing and mouth-watering. Love this place. Gets full fast, so best bet is to get there right as they open at 11am on a weekday.

The beer selection here is impressive, and the food is really good. Everyone is going to recommend the burger, and so am I. Get it with the egg and bacon; you won't be disappointed. Good food means crowds, however, and this place can fill up fast with long waits.

Quick stop in Chicago and found this amazing place. Perfect old fashioned, amazing selection of ales and one of the best cheeseburgers I've ever had. And I've had a few.

The best burger I've had to date. The cocktails are great and the staff is consistent. The place is always busy, but is well worth the wait.
