To the person who says it's too dark: are you elderly? If you want a well lit restaurant, go to Golden Corral at 5 pm. I digress. This restaurant is great. It's constantly busy for a reason. Words do not do it justice. Try it and find out for yourself.

I'm sure the food might be good, but for a burger and fries they could be nicer. The host was very unfriendly and I come from New York where people are stereotypically known to be unhelpful. He was rude, mean, and completely disregarded the idea of customer service. If you think about it, it's only a burger joint which there are more than enough in the city. It's cramped and the atmosphere is overall nasty. I suggest ANYTHING ELSE.

Love the burger! Absolutely delicious! The wait is long.... so don't get there super hungry. This is definitely worthwhile! Only downside is that you shouldn't go with a party of more than four and the customer service is pretty bad. They make you feel like you aren't good enough to be there and don't come around enough to ask if you'd like another drink.

I was very excited to try the infamous burgers here. It was alright but way too salty. I couldn't finish my small fry because of the saltiness. Not sure if it was just my burger or if people like excessive salt use but not my thing. Service and atmosphere were awesome though.

Praise Au Cheval! There isn't many spots I am willing to wait 2+ hours for, but Au Cheval tops that short list. The burger + bacon + egg is one of the best I have ever had. Prices are reasonable, kitchen staff truly look like they are enjoying their jobs, music is on point, and the decor is effortlessly perfect.

I'd heard about the 2-hour (or more) waits in the evening, so we met for lunch a bit after opening -- and still had to wait like 45 minutes. It's a very unpretentious setting, and the menu and servers are similarly, pleasantly, unpretentious. There aren't reservations, so you show up and give them your name and number. The first food section on the menu had fried chicken, and it sounded delicious -- which I mentioned sort of in passing, as a joke, because obviously we weren't there for fried chicken. But my friend liked the thought, and we decided to split that and a burger -- good move. Our fried chicken was the envy of the restaurant (or at least a few people seated near us/walking by who saw it). It was also maybe 6 pieces, and honestly would have been enough food on its own. The sauce is excellent, and the frying alone would have been enough -- it was expertly done, and of a nice consistency. We also got a double cheese burger, which apparently means double cheese and actually 3 burger patties on a brioche bun. The burger patties are thin, which was interesting in the day of the thick, meaty burger. They let us get an egg on the side. The bacon is of the thick, really hammy, not crispy variety. The smashed potatoes weren't what I've come to think of as smashed potatoes, and were actually mashed potatoes -- and were delicious, with gravy and a clove of garlic floating in the middle of the gravy. We clearly couldn't finish it all, and they were quick bringing a container for doggy bagging. The beer selection wasn't huge, at least on tap, but they had some nice choices in a variety of styles, including a couple of good IPAs. The food came quickly, but we didn't feel rushed at all, despite the fact that I'm sure there was a wait. They were very attentive about clearing dishes and refilling water. There's bike parking outside, but you may have to look around a bit because it all seems to be full when I've been in the area.

I lucked out and didn't have to wait longer than a minute to get a seat. Fantastic burger and beer. Thanks to Ryan(server) and Tyler(bartender) for great service and solid recommendations.

Came a bit before lunch hour on a Tuesday and the line was already out the door, so definitely come early or be ready to wait for a while. The burger is well worth the wait though (I'll let the pictures do the talking). Their bone marrow was also outrageous (in a good way), and the portion was very generous. The price is on the higher end for the bar setting, but food quality here is far beyond typical bar standard.
