The open kitchen at this upscale "diner" works with ingredients ranging from bologna to foie gras.- Google
"I don't like the mornay sauce, but the garlic aioli is great."
"Incredible. Get the single cheeseburger with bacon and egg."

OMG If you wants to claim that you have had the best burger in all the land then you must stop here! Yes there may be a wait in excess of 90 minutes, however, do yourself a solid and wait it out. The place is not the largest but the craftsmanship of the burger is next to none. I was overall impressed with the server that we had. I first tried this place on Labor Day and waited in line outside of the entrance or about 35 minutes before the restaurant opened. Try going during off peak hours to have the least amount of wait time.

If you have a hankering for roasted marrow bones, this is your windy city destination. They pair it wonderfully with beef cheek marmalade and toast. And if you've never had a fried bologna sandwich, you should consider trying one here. The bartender will gladly mix you a perfectly paired cocktail or help you make a selection from their top shelf inventory. Dark mahogany walls, deep burgundy tufted leather seating and a wonderful staff make this a place you would want to frequent. Highly recommended.

Get the side of bacon. It's almost caramelized. Get the asian fried chicken. It's amazing. Get the matzo ball soup. It has cippolini onions. Get the fried bologna sandwich. It's miraculous. Get anything and everything. It's all good. Just show up early or really late, or on a weekday at an odd hour because there will be a wait.

Au Cheval is all that the hype says what it is. It is fantastic. Great service, awesome burgers. It is worth the wait to get in there. I traveled over 1600 miles to visit this place. I can die peacefully now because I have had the best burger on the planet. Thank you Au Cheval!

Quite possibly the best cheeseburger I've had in my life! The bacon was like a half-inch thick. The beef was cooked perfectly unlike a lot of places that will just cook it medium no matter what you say (other than well done). The servers and bartenders were busy but never seemed to mind having to stop and answer a question or add to the conversation. Great place.

Came on a Saturday night. Put our names down at 5, sat down at 7:30. I'd suggest downloading the app that shows you how many people are ahead of you. It was accurate and helped us not get too antsy. The wait was not too bad because we went to the bar next door. Got the single burger (actually two patties) with bacon and egg. Glad we did it because it was worth the wait and so good. The egg makes everything perfect and the bacon is cut very thick. We also tried the fries were were tasty and complemented the burger well. Staff was attentive and helpful.

Voted top burger for a reason. Honestly I don't really know why they even have a menu. I just saw plate after plate of burgers coming out. Thick cut bacon, egg, double burger is a must order. Its cooked to perfection.

Au Cheval is by far and away one of the best burgers that I have ever eaten in my life! It's important to note that the single cheeseburger actually comes with two beef patties. I splurged and added the egg and bacon and it was so worth it! I can on a Friday at lunch time and the wait was over an hour and a half. You can put your phone number down and they will text you when your table is ready, but make sure to stay close by because when your table is ready you only have 10 minutes before you lose your spot.
