Considering deleting my Google+ account. Only reason I'm keeping it right now is because I'd like to do some hangouts with some folks.

That's the only reason I have one.  Not exactly well used. . .

Once again the Administration is trying to cut the planetary science budget, one of the few inspirational scientific endeavors the USA still pursues. Not only would we lose a chance at better understanding our solar system and universe, but millions of dollars already spent on in-progress programs would end up having been wasted.

Last year Congress saved NASA's planetary science program from these unreasonably large cuts. Please write to them and ask them to do it again.

With irrational, illogical budget cuts, and a sequester that harms public safety and hurts workers without doing anything significant to help the country's budget woes, the government is working hard to disable and damage important parts of America's infrastructure. Please help save these scientific programs which inspire youth and aid our understanding of the universe around us.

Looks like I never added a link to my blog on G+. Not much there now that social media has replaced so much of what we used to blog about, but if you want to read an adrenaline-fueled writeup of the the awesome experience of seeing the last Shuttle launch at the STS-135 NASATweetup, you can do that there.

There are also photos of snowy owls.

So a Higgs boson walks into a Catholic Church. The priest says "You can't be here!" The Higgs boson replies "But you can't have mass without me!"

If you shoot RAW photos with your digital camera, I highly recommend this: http://t.co/IefV4jR Super-fast, 64-bit support (unlike Canon/Nikon software), enhanced JPEG thumbnail preview speed, and more.

It not only lets me view thumbnails for RAW pics, and view them in Windows Live Photo Gallery, but it reads the 25MB RAW files created by my Canon T3i at ludicrous speed.

One of the very few launch views that MIGHT be even better than what we saw at #NASATweetup.

Looking for a cheap, basic phone for the kids that will let you locate them too? Picking one up for my son.

I'm fascinated by this. Everyone else is turning a phone into a credit card, what with NFC and electronic payments. Meanwhile, these guys are turning a credit card into a phone.

Here's my review of the Pebble smartwatch. It definitely feels like a game-changing category to me: Pebble's not perfect, but I'm already addicted to its functionality. Check out the review for details.

Now that the various Star Treks are available for Netflix streaming, a friend and I were talking about which episodes he should be sure to catch.I'm outing myself as a serious Star Trek nerd here, but with 7 years of Star Trek: The Next Generation and maybe only 25 or 30 really good episodes in all of it, I figure I'm doing a public service by pointing out the best episodes that you should be sure to watch.

** Favorite Star Trek: The Next Generation Episodes:
Best of Both Worlds, Part 1 (Season 3, Episode 26)
Best of Both Worlds, Part 2 (Season 4, Episode 1)
Yesterday’s Enterprise (Season 3, episode 15)
The Inner Light (Season 5, episode 25)
Darmok (Season 5, Episode 2)
Unification, Part 1 and 2 (Season 5, Episodes 7 and 8)
Chain of Command, Part 1 and 2 (Season 6, Episodes 10 and 11)
All Good Things (Season 7, episode 25)

** The “Mirror Universe” episodes: (Watch these in this order, but watch a few other Original Series episodes first)
Mirror Mirror (Star Trek: The Original Series, season 2, episode 4)
The Tholian Web (Star Trek: The Original Series, season 3, episode 9; not a fantastic episode, but key to the two below)
In A Mirror Darkly, Parts I and II (Star Trek: Enterprise, season 4, episodes 18 and 19)

** Original Star Trek:
Space Seed (Season 1, Episode 23)
Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan (movie; it’s available for streaming and is the sequel to Space Seed)
Arena (Season 1, Episode 29; cheesy as heck, but fun!)
The Enemy Within (Season 1, Episode 6 – William Shatner at his Shatneriest!)
Amok Time (Season 12, Episode 1)
The Doomsday Machine (Season 2, Episode 6)
I, Mudd (Season 2, Episode 8)
The Ultimate Computer (Season 2, Epsiode 24)
The Changeling (Season 2, Episode 3 – the inspiration for the first Trek movie)
The Way to Eden (Season 3, episode 20 – awesome 60’s cheesiness)
Let That Be Your Last Battlefield (Season 3, Episode 15)
The Trouble with Tribbles (Season 2, Epsiode 15)
A Piece of the Action (Season 2, Episode 17)
City on the Edge of Forever (Season 1, Episode 29 – I don’t love this like so many others do, but Harlan Ellison will haunt me if I don’t include it)

** Voyager
Don't. Just don't.

DS9's coming in December.

Haven't seen any of those since the first run. But I remember really liking the show in the last few seasons.
