Pictures of Games  -

Game night last Friday.

Started with Caverna, for my second playing of it. Didn't do much better than the first.

Then learned an old game, Container. An interesting economic game where the strategy is pretty different than I'm used to.

Came in 3rd in both games.

There is almost no randomness in the game. In fact, I think the only random thing is the colour of your first machine. Everything else is pure economic engine.

This is awesome. Not often I get to combine my job (talking about STEM education along with Educational Technology) and my love for video games!

Thanks, Moe!

GLaDOS works for NASA

This is pretty awesome.

Board Games  -

Played our first game of Heroic-Level Flash Point last night. I forgot to take a picture of the board, but we were really doing well the first game.

Except that the back bedroom had three Hazmats in it. Bunch of smoke but no fire. I was the Hazmat guy (can't remember the official name of it), so I was heading up there to take care of them.

Just as I was about to open the door to go in and clear up the smoke, fire hit one of them.

BOOOOOOOM!!!!!

BOOOOOOOM!!!!!

BOOOOOOOM!!!!!

House collapsed shortly afterward.

We were so close.

Sounds like a booby trap, which could lead to a whole new level of intrigue in the game. Kudos to you for attempting Heroic level.

Ben, you never cease to make me laugh.

In a good way, of course.

It's time to play "Tennis Player or Telekinetic!"

Three of these people are tennis players. One is a telekinetic levitating a ball with the power of their mind. Can you choose correctly?

I actually got these! Well, some with more of a vague understanding than actually being able to explain it, but still...

Pictures of Games  -

Had a nice day of gaming with the wife yesterday. Played two games of Suburbia with the expansion and two games of Ascension: Rise of Vigil with the Darkness Unleashed expansion mixed in (we had been playing Darkness by itself since I bought it).

This is the first time playing the Suburbia expansion where the borders were really used much. and I've discovered that I really like them! My borough is on the bottom of the photo, and that's a radioactive waste site sticking out of the top of it. Costs 7 population per adjacent tile (even lakes) but hard to say no to the +5 income! Just don't use it with more than one tile.

Also love the new tiles as well, though I'm still unsure if I'm going to take out some basic game tiles to make room for them. Not removing any tiles can dilute the stacks, especially since you use fewer tiles to begin with

Bizarre looking suburbs, yes. But I really like the extra option of the borders. They give you some interesting decisions (and difficult ones) in how to build your map efficiently.
