Learned the basic game of Viticulture last night.

Who knew making wine would be such fun!

Took me a turn or two to really "get" the game, so I'd like to play again sometime to see how I do.

It certainly is a fun one.  It makes my top five, for sure.

That I am. In my defense, this graphic doesn't say Canada. 😉

Believe it or not, the last item on this list is something I have the most trouble doing.

How to Be a Good Friend to Someone Who Is Depressed
It can be tough to know what to say to a friend who's depressed or how to help. Here's what I've learned about being there for someone with depression.

Got some Power Grid in yesterday (last place out of 6) and then finally played Splendor for the first time.

Now I see what you all are raving about with the latter game. Wow.

Anybody in the Pacific Northwest or Lower Mainland coming to this?

Would love to meet up and play a game if you are.

(Apologies to those in my circles who are also on the Boardgaming community for the double-post)

Played Firefly yet again on Friday night.

Lost spectacularly, but did have a great serendipitous moment.

Ended up (not by design) having s completely moral crew. Drew the job (forget whose it is) where you do not pay your moral crew members for it, but they don't become disgruntled. Got $3200 without having to pay anybody. (The Gun Hand in the pic was hired after doing this job)

Win!

Second nice thing was having River Tam and drawing both misbehave cards where she's the ace.

Played some Blood Bowl: Team Manager yesterday. First time I've played with 4 players (I play a lot with my wife and then played 3-player two weeks ago).

I was the Dark Elves, against the Undead, Chaos Dwarves, and the Humans (the only new player of the bunch).

Things were going well and I had the lead until the 4th round of 5. Even then, I was only two fans back. One of my team upgrades was one that allowed me to get a fan for every downed opponent at any match I was at. Tournaments were really good for me then.

Ended up losing to the Humans 62-58, with Undead getting 46 and the Chaos Dwarves dropping out at 37 fans. He had a horrid last round where he had a number of players tossed with bad cheating tokens.

I really love this game with 3 and 4 players. Wish I had more of a chance to get it to the table.

It's a card game based on the old Blood Bowl "fantasy" football game. Various fantasy races (Dwarves, Elves, Humans, Undead, Skaven, etc) in teams that play football at its dirtiest to win.

I find it a really fun game.

Anyone know of relatively recent studies on the effectiveness of various class durations (60m vs. 90m vs. 180m) in post-secondary education?

Played Firefly again on Friday, but this time the guy who brings it to game nights had bought the Blue Sun expansion.

First time every playing with that. As others have noted, really makes the table space requirement worse.

Other than that, though, I really loved it! I love that there are three Reaver ships now and the new Reaver mechanics.

We played "Patience's War" (new story with Blue Sun), and it was the best performance I've ever had playing this. It's a tough and bloody one, where each goal requires misbehaving and then an increasingly hard Guns check. Even if you pass, you will lose one, then two, and then four crew (though you've won the game on the last one, so who cares?).

I lost by one turn, unfortunately. The eventual winner had really stocked up on crew and passed all of the tests with ease. I saw that he was doing that, so started pursuing the goals sooner than I would have liked, requiring some good dice rolls.

So far so good and we both completed the second goal on the same turn, me right after him. It was a race to Deadwood, and unfortunately he beat me there. I was one space away. He passed the final tests to win.

He wanted to see what would happen if I took my turn, and made a couple of good dice rolls and I would have won if he didn't (obviously assuming the dice rolls were the same).

Great game and a lot of fun!

All three of us (the third player never even finished the first goal) are experienced players, so were shopping and dealing while others took their turns, so we managed to finish in 2.5 hours.

Will definitely play it again, though I won't be buying Blue Sun. I don't have the room to play it at home and I have to be able to play it at home to justify buying a game.

Damn, this sounds cool!

And Alspach says that a number of the new tiles are schools, restaurants, and the like, so that may help with the "tile dilution" issue that came up in Suburbia Inc.

Glad to hear that we weren't the only ones noticing the restaurant troubles! We customized the stack and removed all restaurant related tiles except for Fancy restaurants.
