This place is awesome. Excellent barbecue. I love the Memphis and Mad Dog BBQ sauces. The baby back ribs, pulled pork, chicken, tri tip, brisket and links are all great. I guess that's basically all the main meats! The sides are amazing. The blueberry corn bread and blue cheese slaw are excellent. I've been to some fantastic bbq places in Kansas, Tennessee and Texas and Robins is the best you can get out in these parts. Highly recommend if you're a true bbq fan.

This place has really upped its game over the last year. The mac & cheese and blueberry cornbread with blueberry butter is outstanding. We seem to always order the garbage can combo with the mad dog bbq sauce. This is good stuff. There was a time when it wasn't always consistent but they got it down now and it is always good.

I agree with some of the others about the blueberry cornbread and the mac and cheese. They should sell them in the markets. The smoked meats taste like the barbeque I had growing up in Austin, Texas. Real tasty barbeque.

good food at a value price. this place has a very unique roadside grill decor, is great for kids, and has awesome blueberry cornbread. this place is a lot like lucille's, but knock about $2-3 off the price. we got the garbage can, which is supposedly good for 2, except we (2 adults, 2 young children) had enough leftovers for 2 more meals. the ribs are nice and smokey. didn't care too much for the hot links, but the chicken was pretty good. i'd recommend if you're in the area.

It wasn't until only recently had I heard of Robin's Wood Fire BBQ. And I've driven around Pasadena/Rosemead plenty of times, but never have I known that an American barbecue joint was located so close to my house! My friend suggested we eat here after hearing that I have never even heard of this place. He also said that he enjoyed eating Robin's when he was younger and that this place would bring back fond memories. I think the food is decent for an American BBQ place, but I would still rate Lucille's (and of course Bludso's and Phil's) higher than Robin's. This place definitely looks like something from the 70's (if I have my decades right). It looks as if they had a make under to get the walls and seats to resemble a diner/BBQ joint. Lots of bright neon signs, plaques on the walls and over the cash registers, red and white checkered tablecloths - definitely makes you feel like you've walked out of Pasadena and into a real BBQ place. The food: We ordered the Garbage Can Combo (an appealing name), which basically has an assortment of everything and was large enough for a party of 3 or even 4. We ended up having a total of five adults and three young children, and two Garbage Can Combos were a little too much for all of us. The Combo included: -Blueberry cornbread: A must-try if you're into cornbread! It's much more reminiscent of a blueberry muffin as it is softer and sweeter than normal cornbread. Comes with butter for a total melt-in-your-mouth delicious taste! -Chicken: Probably my second favorite after the beef ribs. Wasn't dry and had good flavor. The children really liked this! I thought it was pretty good. -Beef ribs: I think I liked the beef ribs the most. Honestly when it's served on a platter and everything is the same color, you can't really tell what is what. If our deductions were correct and what I remember was the beef rib, it had good flavor and didn't need any extra BBQ sauce. The meat was tender, but not as good as Phil's. -Pork ribs/Sausage: Nothing too special. -Baby back ribs: These were pretty tasty! They were easy to cut and easy to eat. They had good flavor and fell off the bone pretty easily. -Tri tip: Pretty decent! Expected a little more flavor. -Coleslaw: It was too sweet for me. I didn't expect the flavor and would probably pass on this side dish the next time. -Onion rings: A decent amount. Fried well and tasted like an onion ring should taste! tl;dr - If you have a fairly large group, I would suggest the Garbage Can Combo with some extra blueberry cornbread. The meal comes with a bunch of meat loaded with sauce on top, so you don't really know what you're eating at times. It isn't the fanciest nor is it the best, but Robin's is a good place if you're catching up with friends, have a fairly large party, and want to eat some American BBQ. There's parking in the back. They also have unlimited amounts of peanuts that you can scoop with a paper basket and munch on while you wait for your food. I think I'd return if other people in my party were in the mood for BBQ in the area. Otherwise, I'd pass and make the drive to Lucille's. Or wait for Phil's!

I love Robin's because they have the best beef ribs around, but I was super sad to find out they are no longer open weekdays. Now I hardly get to go there. :(
