This is the main reason why, in the past 6-7 years I watched maybe 5 Hollywood movies. Another important reason is the fact that most such movies are trash. But that one is debatable so eh. To each his own.

I started smoking when I was 21 (for silly reasons of course, it was a very weird time for me) and smoked for 6 years. It got to the point (very fast - I think I was smoking a pack+ after a year) I was smoking 2 packs (~40 cigarettes) a day. Insane I know. Eventually, after a lot of introspection and... thoughts, I got to the point I decided my health was more important (teeth, lungs, skin... and all the other crap smoking does). So, august 31st '09, after smoking almost 2 packs, I stopped. Since september 1st 2009, I haven't touched a single cigarette. And no, it wasn't difficult, it wasn't a struggle, and I never felt the "need" again. Yay me.
I find it a bit awkward when people ask me how I quit so easily, because I don't have a "magic answer" and a lot of people want that (gimme the magic thingy to help me quit this instant! oh you don't have such a thing? pfff, then it's crap - lol). As a side note, prior to that I did try a few times and failed to quit. After thinking about it a lot, I consider it comes down to actually wanting to quit vs just saying you want to quit. Two very different things. I actually wanted to quit so I did. Nicotine is not heroine (and yea I know some people like to be delusional and say things like "nicotine is harded to quit then heroin", but that's idiotic and ignorant). If you want to quit, all you have to do is want it. Well, that's just my not so humble opinion (funny, I did meet over time, some people who were like "oh... 'only' 6 years... that's nothing, that's why you quit so easy", but I think that's just silly and shifts responsibility from their own inability to decide whether they want to or don't want to quit).
Also, as edit, drugs being "gateways" to harder drugs is another way of shifting responsibility from yourself to mystical juju. I was smoking for my stupid reasons, but never did that "push" me anywhere. I never had thoughts magically popping in my head like "oh... after that cig I suddenly crave some 'whatever' (insert harder drug). That just doesn't happen. There are other reasons people end up doing that, and it's of course easier to put the blame on outside factors, rather then yourself.
Cheers!

The fine was not because they refused to bake the cake. It was because the shitty cake bakers published the phone number and address of the lesbian couple, which resulted in all the other shitty christians flooding them with death threats and other christian love.
Disagreeing with the judge's decision is also slightly idiotic (not only from a moral pov but also from a legal one), but to each his own.

This was amazing. I'm happy you found your way out of that toxic environment and into a - what seems through youtube :) - loving and happy relationship.
You both seem to be genuinely sweet, kind, smart... just good people. You deserve to be happy :)
Of course this is my take on you guys, and it's through youtube and not knowing you personally, so you might be actually horrible... haha :P But I doubt it :>

You should watch Shelter (2007) :)

The 4 movies you listed:
Prayers for Bobby and Boys Don't Cry were amazing, but so horribly sad that I just can't rewatch them.
Trick and Broken Hearts Club were meh for me. Trick was ok-ish, but the 2nd one I really dind't like.

+Alan Animus yes I agree. Better story lines ,better actors and more dept to them. I don't even mind subtitles if the movie is interesting. Loved the movie Free Fall but the ending sucked. Really HOT. Oh and I have seen War Boys. Loved the tweezers scene. HOT also. Just watched Capital Games. Not top quality for sure.

Moving on from words and semantics and talking about the real issues (whether we're talking about homophobia, racism, sexism or any other form of discrimination) is the smart thing to do and the thing that should be done, in order to actually make some progress (though the people that need to hear it are usually too stupid to be affected by reason or logic so... eh). So thumbs up for making that point.
I've seen a few rants on youtube recently (and other media) from people who seem to get prickly over the fact that some people are being offended by what they say. So basically they throw a tantrum about not being able to talk shit ("jokes" for example) without offending people. And they just completely miss the fucking point. (for example: I don't give a shit about a rich white fuck's hurt feelings over not being able to say offensive jokes anymore without some people calling him out on it - jerry seinfeld in this case - if said r.w.f. is only throwing a tantrum about losing one of his million privileges - so basically if you're being called out on your jokes... you're not funny).
Thing is, like most things, if done intelligently, people can use "offensive" words, without being offensive, even if it's not to quote or debate, but just as a joke. (Louis CK springs to mind... he says a lot of offensive stuff, and yet, he manages not to be offensive - at least the stand ups I've seen... so there's that)

At first I thought only Hannah Cranston was trying to reach new heights of stupidity. However, as the clip nears end, others join in. It's like they are trying to outdo each other. slow clap

Faith is the great cop-out, the great excuse to evade the need to think and evaluate evidence. Faith is belief in spite of, even perhaps because of, the lack of evidence.
