Nice work, Eric. Admittedly, I have found most game genre discussions nearly useless because of the focus on mechanics and tropes, bad Aristotelian definitions and logic. Worse, the point for me as a gamer was assumed to be important when it really wasn't.
I first skimmed your post and, when I saw your super genre definitions, saw the relevance. Those are critical definitions for game designers because I often see games whose mechanics don't support the goals.
