For the time being Local Results are being spammed with what appear to be totally inappropriate and faked oneboxes representing faked businesses.  Plumbers and Dentists are two categories with all sorts of bad data   (Rob:  you may want to check this out).

Could be a glitch, a result of a tweak, the local algo being changed in a way that highlights spammed data:  In its own right its somewhat revealing as to how local works.   Here is a summary of findings over thelast 2 or 3 days  :http://localsearchforum.catalystemarketing.com/google-local/10000-attack-bad-google-local-one-boxes-other.html

Has anyone ever run into an issue where a Google Local Place has already been claimed by an ex-employee of your clients company and you are trying to re-claim it? I called Google, sent emails through the Google Places page and I had
 no luck.

Eddie:  Here is a link to the thread in G Places that I was thinking about re:  your situation.  http://productforums.google.com/forum/#!searchin/business/business$20license/business/V438SBzbQek/Jmy2kq7esNIJ

I don't know what precipitated the requirement for a  business license.  Vanessa, the then Google Contact to the G Places Forum, commented that the request for a business license was and would be rare.

I suspect that similar to your issue, G Local personnel had a difficult time determining who actually owned and controlled the business (and Google accounts)  To solve the issue they required enhanced knowledge of actual ownership.

If you go into the G Places forum you may wish to reference this thread as a reminder to them as to how to escalate in the event ownership and control is not clear to them.   Alternatively you may wish to send this to the customer service staff so that they can ascertain a method to ensure who is the controlling group for the business and the Google accounts.

+Brian Patterson has a great recap on advanced reputation management from #Pubcon

83% of businesses will suffer a reputation attack in the next 5 years that will devalue their company by 20-25%. If you don't like those odds, check out his advice below.

Loved the service!! Zabed Chowduri was awesome through out the entire sales process. He found the car that I was looking for, worked the paper work through out the day while I was working, waiting for me until I got there in the afternoon to finalize the paper work and had the car almost ready! Great job!

My experience with this dealer has been the worst. I purchased a 2009 used car in August of last year and right after I bought it we had problems with the air conditioner. It was a certified pre-owned so it had a warranty, but every time we took the car back their service department spoke to us like we were dumbs and like we had no idea what we were talking about and the problem continued. Finally, this month the air conditioner stopped working so we took it back again. This time they told us that there was leak with the AC and that's the reason the AC stopped working. They also told me that this was something slowly happened which means that they should have caught it all of these other times. What worst of this is that they told me that the certified pre-own only gives me 10k warranty and that we had gone over, so I was responsible for the cost of the repairs. After arguing with them, they asked me to pay a deductive of $100 and I really have no other choice. I am so disappointed with their service department. I would advise anyone that wants to take their car there for repairs, NOT TO DO IT.
