PowerUp discussion for Section 2 acknowledged the authors' suggestions for developing a 'help box' to accompany codes for notations on students writing. Many shared how they make comments on students' writing and the programs they use. It would be great if Google Classroom developed this to save teachers the time for developing.

Susan quoted Neebe and Roberts p. 152 "Our assessment criteria has been augmented by new forms of communication, but teaching our students to master content, present it well and choose the tools appropriate to their intention are the core values to which we must always return." I worry that I will be so concerned with preparing technology accessible assignments, that I will lose depth of meaning. Others assure that scaffolding and implementing backwards design, which is innate to us, will assure critical thinking and deeper meaning outcomes.

Thought a lot about taking the Happy Route today in all I did, not succumbing to routine. #UNHLit

Small group discussion on Chapter 1 was quite enriching. The information hashed out could be summarized by Susan's note "use technology when (you) know it is the right tool for the job." p.5 Shawn's comment was that at the end of the day we are still an English teacher. ... or in my case a reading teacher to struggling readers and writers.

A quote that resonated with me as we innovate, we have to make sure we aren't just automating education or simply making it more efficient.: p. x Neebe and Roberts

Planning in a 1:1 classroom takes on a different look from traditional ways. #PowerUpEd
