Introduction
I'm the mother of two glorious girls.  I have the distinct privilege of getting to stay at home to raise them.  My youngest has a rare brain disorder called hemimegalencephaly, and I keep a blog about her life.

The Special Olympics has failed my daughter. After watching her team and coaches do nothing to ensure her meaningful inclusion on a unified team, we lodged a complaint that has yet to be resolved-over two months later. Our child was pulled off the field more than any other child on her team. She was never passed to. The only time any attempt was made to "include" her was during kick off. Our emails and phone calls are now being ignored. Promises to contact us are unfulfilled. Our experience has not been validated and there have been no assurances that anything will change in the future. We were told by her coach after being with the program for four years, that our daughter "doesn't belong on a unified team". We have done our very best to give the program ample time to respond and help us understand how our daughter will be included in a way that is meaningful in the future. We have been left with NOTHING. I am floored and disgusted that a program designed for children with cognitive delays would fail our child. If you have a child with physical limitations, do not trust that your "Special" Olympics team will put forth any effort to include them. And certainly do not rely on the program to support you as an advocate or your child as an athlete.

One of my daughters has significant special needs, including sensory issues. The staff at Molen seemed to pick up on this immediately and took special care to describe everything they were going to do before they proceeded with her check-up. They also let her watch her sister take X-rays so that she would know how to stand still while the machine worked around her. I have been extremely impressed with the care and kindness Molen Orthodontics uses with every patient and parent. Once, when our schedule appointment started late, Dr. Molen walked in and before I could even utter a comment, apologized profusely and offered our family movie passes for our time. This level of customer service is unheard of these days. I highly recommend Molen and tell all our friends and family that there is only one place to take their kids!
