I seen a barista at Caffe Culture using a small digital scale under his espresso cup. He put the scale on to the grate of the espresso machine then put the cup on top. Just wondering why you would use this method? Measuring out the water? or the density? Just curious, Cheers.

Nadya Vlassoff: That's to measure the density, it's especially important when measuring milk density in drinks like lattes and cappuccinos. That way, they can be the right density and not too foamy for lattes and not too much milk into a cap.

Chris Hildebrand (Prairie Piper): +Nadya Vlassoff Measuring milk density with a scale??? We're talking about using a scale while extracting espresso to ensure properly pulled shots in respect to time and volume. The is no need for a scale to measure your milk, there is only so much liquid you can fit into a cup.

My 1st Attempt at Latte Art, Its so easy using the chocolate sauce but so effective. Just draw 4 lines across the cup and using a cocktail stick or a coffee stirrer, draw across the lines in opposite directions.
