Meson for Vala?
I know Meson build system has Vala support, may in early stages. With GTK ported to use it, may is time to do the same with GXml, fix some issues in Mason if needed and integrate in GNOME Builder for future projects written in Vala.

Don't forget that Autovala has also support for Meson.21w
Meson has excellent support for Vala as of 0.40! I've sent a couple of patches and +Nirbheek Chauhan has worked out the whole multiple output installation.
Check https://github.com/valum-framework/valum/blob/master/src/vsgi/meson.build where it can easily generate and install GIR introspection, compile a typelib, etc...
I also know that Al Thomas has a working Genie patch.
Honestly, at this point, the only thing that blocks me is a bug with mixed sources (C + Vala). It can allow one to do very neat stuff like defining a partial API in Vala and complete the missing bits with C.
