Congratulations to all High School Mock Trial teams for their participation in the 2017 Regional High School Mock trial Competitions! We hope everyone had a wonderful experience and are proud of what each student accomplished.

The scoresheets are confirmed and the 12 teams announced are approved for advancement to the State Competition! Also, listed is a backup team in the event an advancing team cannot participate in the state competition.

Teams advancing to the 2017 State High School Mock Trial Competition (March 10 and 11) are listed in Alphabetical Order:

All Teams:
While the scoresheets were just confirmed, it will be tomorrow before they hit the mail. In the meantime, LRE will be working diligently to go through all the red registration bags and pull out what was left behind (i.e. certificates), make any corrections to certificates (i.e. name changes/additions made late last week thru Saturday), as well as copy and sort the scoresheets. The entire packet will be forwarded to the lead teacher coach via mail. There are several e-mails and voicemails to respond to from this past weekend. Scoresheets were our first priority, but please know that I promise to respond to everyone.


Important Items/Deadlines to Note for Advancing Teams are as Follows:
• Forfeiting the State Competition - no later than Thursday, March 2 at noon
• There is an additional $150 registration fee due to the SC Bar to participate in the state competition due prior to competing – due Monday, March 6 at noon
• New Team Codes E-Mailed to Lead Teacher Coaches – by Thursday, March 2
• Form to Confirm Participation in State - Due Friday, March 3 at noon
• Submission of Team Roster for State [typed] - Due Friday, March 3 at noon
• There will be a conference call scheduled the week of the competition
• The Forum Discussion is Back Open, but Closes Thursday, March 2 at noon


The letter to all teacher coaches and attorney coaches advancing to the state competition will be sent via email and mailed with the scoresheets. Forms mentioned in the deadline will also be included in the letter.

Advancing teams, if you know you are coming to state without a doubt please send me an e-mail and let me know so that the backup team can be notified sooner than later. If your team will be deciding over this week if your team can advance based on scheduling, team composition, financial reasons, etc., please let me know that too.

Congratulations to everyone on the fabulous regional competitions! Please pat yourself on the back for all of your hard work and dedication to your students!

The 2016 State Middle School Mock Trial Results and rankings are in!!!!

The 2016 State Middle School Mock Trial Competition took place this past weekend at the Marc H. Westbrook Lexington County Judicial Center. Twelve teams out of 31 teams advanced from the regional competitions to the state competition held on December 2 and 3, representing all corners of the state. Most effective witnesses and most effective attorneys were recognized from every round at the state competition by their peers and the scoring judges. The culmination of the closing assembly was the announcement of the top two teams to compete in two championship rounds for the state championship title, Chapin Middle School and Moultrie Middle School.

Congratulations to Moultrie Middle School on winning their first state mock trial competition championship title (State Team Code: JA). Participating students included Barron Burns, Ansel Dietrick, Maris Ferro, Addyson Fisher, Joy Katsburg, Whitney Knotts, Emma Nodine, Finlay Palmer, Lucas Sneed, Luke Wallace, Estella Walsh, Crawford White, and Laney Winn. The teacher coaches were Cathleen Lee and Kelly Hodo. The attorney coaches were Audrey Brown and Marie-Louise Ramsdale.

Congratulations is also extended to Chapin Middle School on being the first runner-up (State Team code: KM). Participating students included Luke Freeman, Drew Johnson, Jade Kalish, Jayden Kozak, Marcus Leano, Bethany Lindler, Paige Maylath, Trinity Montgomery, Lydia Morris, Dalton Perry, Jacob Potter, Jade Quimby, Tripp Reynolds, Loraleigh Riddle, Megan van Vollenhoven, and Eli Warnock. The teacher coaches were Susan Splittgerber and Debbie Liebler. Their attorney coaches were Sarah Eibling and Tucker Player.

A new Professionalism and Civility Award was presented this year. The teams nominated Heathwood Hall Episcopal School as the 2016 Professionalism and Civility Award. Participating students included Nico Adamo, Hermoine Barringer, Ellie Colwell, Anne Johnson, Jasmine Jones, Victoria Johnson, Mary Nord, Alex Owens, London Patel, Jett Pintar, Charlie Peluso, and Liam Quan. The teacher coach was Emily Hodges. Their attorney coach was Barbara Petit.


The Middle School Mock Trial Forum will close at Noon on 11/21/16 in preparation for the State Competition. No new questions will be answered after that point.

What a shot in the arm it would be to get the 2017 High School Mock Trial case a couple days early!!! If we have at least ten High School Mock Trial post a team picture on Facebook before Noon on Friday, we will release the case on Friday instead of the scheduled date of October 31st on Halloween.
