Today is International Mountain Day and we would like to pay homage to BC’s spectacular Rocky Mountains. The largest mountain system in North America, the Rockies include catellate, matterhorn, sawtooth and dipping strata peaks. Pictured below is Mt. Robson as seen from TNTBC’s Mt. Robson Ranch property.

FUN FACT: Salmon are often referred to as a ‘forest product’
Sounds strange? Well, salmon play a crucial role in fertilizing the forest. Bears, wolves and other animals who feast on spawning salmon drag the salmon away from the river and into the forest. The salmon carcass contains large amounts of nitrogen, and this nitrogen is necessary for healthy plant growth, especially for bushes like the salmon berry bush. This in turn increases insect hatches and attracts the presence of song birds.
