This pre-1966 guitar is coming with me for a business trip oversea, the one with tilted top. Still adjusting NAT and Saddles. It takes time.

60s Japanese Flamenco restoration part-3

Applying under coat and close wood grain tubes. It will avoid from varnish sucked in to the wood or bubble comes out. It is a modest work but needs to be done. Applying thin cashew coating over and over. It looks like Gorpe board residue line on the top will stay visible.

It looks like restoration have to wait. going oversea for a while.

60s Japanese Flamenco restoration part-2

Stated working on top refinish. 1st very thin base layer of cashew paint applied. Tomorrow, I will be sanding off and make flat surface and fill grains and pores with base coating. How do I make it disappear Gorpe residue mark.

60s Japanese Flamenco restoration part-1

I have decided to re-finish top and neck varnish. Sanded off old varnish and applied first layer cashew paint on the neck. Broken brace glued and clamped. I have never seen this bracing pattern on classical guitars. I have no idea if this is common bracing for flamenco??? I also don't know if flamenco top is single piece or not. My classical guitars are usually 2 piece wood glued in the middle. Fun project for long holiday.

Japanese Flamenco guitar Model F4

Year unknown most probably 60s. F4 by well known Japanese Luthier family. Currently not playable. Top concaved, action too low, 2cm sky high saddle bone caused by broken top brace. It looked like a guitar worth spending time restoring. I was inspired by a friend oversea playing Bach with white material guitar lead me to purchase this flamenco guitar. Interestingly, top is single piece spruce.

1966 Tilted top classical guitar

I thought these designs are for modern classical guitars. This pre-1966 guitar has tilted top angled down towards the neck from sound hole. not a raised fingerboard guitar but felt easier playing high frets.

Cheapest old Japanese student classical guitar restored

It is amazing even the lowest Matsuoka made guitar has Matsuoka tone. Well build for the lowest model. Pre-70s model. It looks like side is solid and back is some kind of cheap veneer plywood. Top is nice.
