Just stumbled upon this. Ruby written in RPython. I wonder what is the speed comparison?

The idea of 'blasphemy' project becomes one step closer. The idea is the common layer to the OS API, that is portable to different language syntaxes. I mean that when we have an 'argparse' library written in a subset of Python that is directly translatable to some subset of Ruby syntax, the only thing that matters is the system calls to the OS. By providing these standardized calls we can make the most awesome libraries and API's directly accessible from any compatible language.

This will make it easier for people to experiment with new language syntaxes without losing the power of already written libs in other syntaxes.
