Roanoke Valley CrossFit wants to make a difference in the lives of our CrossFit family by improving everyone’s quality of life through fitness, nutrition, and encouragement. By using correct fundamentals, we wish to train our athletes to maximize their functional fitness through constantly varied, high intensity workouts. In addition we want to empower individuals to truly care about others and utilize the many gifts and talents they have been blessed with in order to serve others.

Today's WOD is in memory of Sgt. Eric M. Houck. He was assigned to Headquarters & Headquarters Battery, 3rd Battalion, 320th Field Artillery Regiment, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) and Company D, 1st Battalion, 187th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault), Fort Campbell, KY. He earned Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Combat Action Badge and Army Commendation Medal with a second oak leaf cluster. We are grateful for all the men and women who serve to protect our freedom. #REDFriday #RememberEveryoneDeployed

Today's WOD is in memory of Marine Lance Cpl Jessie A Cassada. He died January 6, 2009 Serving During Operation Enduring Freedom at 19 years of age. Cassada was from Hendersonville, NC and served our country in the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force, Camp Lejeune, N.C. It was his dream to serve our country as a Marine. He is survived by his Mom and Stepdad. We are thankful to all of the men and women who serve and give of their lives to protect our freedoms.

Today's WOD is in memory of Cpl. John T. Olson. Cpl. Olson died February 21, 2005 while serving our country during Operation Iraqi Freedom. From Elk Grove Village, Ill, John was 21 years old and was on his third tour of duty. He was assigned to Headquarters Battalion, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force based at Camp Lejeune, N.C. We are very thankful for all of the men and women who sacrifice and serve our country so we can enjoy the freedoms we have today. #REDFriday #RememberEveryoneDeployed

Today's WOD is in memory of Sgt. Trevor J. Johnson. Trevor was a fifth-generation rancher who grew up south of Forsyth, near Colstrip, Montana. He was killed 1/27/2009 in an explosion in Afghanistan. He was an engineer in the 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion, 2nd Marine Division and was based at Camp Lejeune, NC. Trevor left behind a wife, 3 year old stepson and 8 month old daughter when he was killed. Thank you to all of the men and women who serve our country!
