Join us in about 30 minutes.
Burnout is real and it is running rampant throughout the community industry. This myth about the need to be available 24/7 and sacrificing the rest of your life isn't healthy and it needs to stop. Don't just take my word for it, read Jess Fish's articles on Why Breaks are Crucial for Social Professionals (http://www.socialmediatoday.com/social-business/jess-fish/2015-06-24/why-breaks-are-crucial-social-professionals) and Stop, Drop, and Breathe: Curing Email Apnea for Community Professionals (http://cmxhub.com/drop-stop-and-breathe-curing-email-apnea-for-community-professionals/), +Carrie Melissa Jones' The Core Reason for Community Builder Burnout (http://carriemelissa.com/2015/08/05/community-builder-burnout/) or +Amber Naslund's The One Rule That Changed My Work-Life Balance Forever (http://www.brasstackthinking.com/the-one-rule-that-changed-my-work-life-balance-forever/) (to name a few).

I get it, you're here to serve, and you want to be available. The reality is: you can't be there for your community if you aren't taking care of yourself. I've quoted +Natalie Villalobos, former Google+ Community Manager and now Women in Technology Advocate at Google, countless times on this one:

"The more balanced I can be, more perspective I can get, more nourished I am, the more I can serve my community."

Feeling a bit burnt out or looking for balance? Join us for this week’s #CMGRHangout panel on Friday, August 21st at 2pm EDT/11am PDT to discuss how to take care of yourself while building your community.

+Jonathan Brewer, +Dom Garrett and +Sherrie Rohde will be hosting the hangout with +Crystal Coleman, +Evan Hamilton, +Carrie Melissa Jones, +Berrak Sarikaya and +Susan Silver as panelists. +Carrie Keenan and +Sarah Nagel will be moderating the Twitter chat using #CMGRHangout .

Discussion Questions

1. What does self-care mean to you?
2. What signs do/can you look for to tell when you're approaching burnout?
3. How can you work together with your employer to address and work through burnout?
4. How do you define and focus on success vs getting lost in the daily grind?
5. What tips have you found to help draw the line and say no?

RSVP & Watch the Hangout

RSVP here to let us know you’re going to watch. This will add the event to your calendar and remind you to attend! If you want to be on air, please let us know in advance by commenting here.

Let’s discuss ways you can attend:

Watch: You do NOT need to join the hangout. Just stay on the Google+ Event and you’ll see the video on YouTube. (Don’t worry, it will be there and start playing as soon as the broadcast begins.)

Talk and Be Seen: If you decide you want to talk, not just watch, please let us know in advance. (We will only invite a few people for this event, so let us know why you would like to attend.)

Chat: You can watch here and/or follow the conversation on Twitter using #CMGRHangout .

If you join us on the hangout, a wired internet connection is preferred and if you have a headset with mic or earbuds, that works best for the audio. You will also need a working webcam.

Starting soon! #blendedtt  with #millennials  , #boomers  , and #genX  .
This week, we tackle the "isms" in the workplace as all generations come together to relay their personal experiences. As we continue to explore the Future of Work, these sensitive topics are a reality today. Have we truly progressed over time or do these "isms" exist in a different form?

I am working on a client's website which is throwing out some bad links like this one.

http://soulati.com/tag/blogging/page/7/spinsucks.com/social-media/how-to-measure-roi-when-its-not-tied-to-sales/

I thought it might be the rewrite rules, but I am not sure how to diagnose and fix them. Any help is much appreciated because these urls are creating a bunch of 404 errors I would like to correct.

I am so lucky to work with people like +Joe Cardillo  who continue to blow my mind with their skills and knowledge. Though, I am quite pleased that my "humanity in data" philosophy is spreading :)
