GERU - The Spreadsheet has Evolved
I love tools that help me in my business. My dad who has been a pastor for almost 50 years used a typewriter at first. I can remember him sitting at his desk, typing on it, every now and then he would have to stop and do something with the ribbons so that i...

From Book 6 – of my 12 Guardian series. Still need more edits and polish but I hope you enjoy it.
The plane landed, Saul and Zig rented a car and drove toward the courthouse in Austin. Saul drove, Zig was putting the finishing touches on his disguise.
“Are you nervous?” Saul asked.
“You remember the plan?”
Zig gave him a funny look. “I came up with the plan, so yes I do think I’ll remember it. You are more nervous than I am, calm down.”
“I’m usually the one going into the lion’s den.”
“You have your job to do, and it’s to drive.”
“Why couldn’t I be the attorney again, I think he would recognize me.”
“I thought we went over this before, anyway it’s too late now.”
Saul shook his head, “I don’t know how you talked me into it.”
Zig laughed. He wasn’t nervous; he enjoyed working and needed to keep his edge. He was wearing a wig, had applied some makeup to his face, and put on a fake nose. It wasn’t a garish disguise, just one that when he took it off, no one would recognize him. “You remember where you’re supposed to park?”
“I’m not supposed to park, just supposed to make circles around the block.”
“Correct, remember I’ll be timing my entrance, when I get the time I’ll let you know how long I’ll need. You’ll then need to give me a shout, every time you pass that spot on your route.” He inserted the earwig in his ear, adjusted the watch on his wrist.
Saul pulled up in front of the courthouse and Zig got out. He adjusted his suit and briefcase as he walked past the barriers and into the automatic door of the huge building. He stopped at the security checkpoint, took everything out of his pockets, handed them his wallet and cell phone.
“State your business,” the guard said, looking at his identification.
“Meeting with a client.”
“I don’t understand how someone could defend that lady,” he said loud enough for all of his friends to hear. They all turned and glared at him. Nice crowd he thought. He retrieved his items and walked through the checkpoint toward the elevators. Zig touched a button on his watch, instead of going to the elevator he walked to the stairway, and quickly climbed to the third floor. He opened the door, walked into the hallway, it was very crowded. The room he was going to was at the other end, so he walked quickly to the door and clicked the watch. Two police officers were standing outside the door.
“I’m her lawyer,” Zig said approaching them.
They asked to see his identification, compared it to a note he had and opened the door. A police officer was in the room, he stood up, exited the door. Mary Jo was sitting at a table, handcuffed to a bar in the middle of it. Zig sat down in the chair.
“I don’t…” she started saying.
Zig sat his briefcase on the table and opened it. “I am a friend.” The room was supposed to be lawyer and client friendly. That meant no listening devices were allowed in the room. He touched a button on his cell phone and swept the room. It was bug free.
“Do you know Saul,” Zig asked.
The lady nodded.
“Good, he is in a car outside. By the way Saul, 5 minutes and 10 seconds.”
“Roger,” he heard in his earpiece.
Zig could see one of the guards peeking through the window in the door. He turned slightly so the guard couldn’t see his lips. “Don’t say anything, we’re here to rescue you.”
Jo nodded.
“You have some skip time left?”
“Yes I do, I should have twenty minutes. I had a hard time staying awake and not jumping back.”
Zig noticed she did look very sleepy, bags were under her bloodshot eyes. “Don’t worry, you’ll be sleeping like a baby this afternoon. We need to pretend we’re talking so you can just nod your head every now and then and say some random things.”
“I understand completely. I’m not guilty.”
“Good. When I say go, in a couple of minutes you’ll grab my hand and we’ll skip. I’ll pick your lock and then we’ll walk out of here, and get into a car that’s waiting for us outside.”
“I’m not sure what the evidence they have on me is.”
“Check,” he heard through the earbud. Zig glanced at his watch. “We have about fifteen minutes, and then it’s go time.”
“You’re cutting it close, the hearing is supposed to start in five minutes.”
“Those things are never on time.”
A knock on the door. “When I say ‘now’, grab my hand and skip.”
The door opened. “Time to go,” the guard said. “Please step outside the room,” he continued pointing at Zig.
Things were not going according to plan.
