Empowering employees isn’t just for tech companies like Google. It’s something all kinds of successful companies share.

+Wegmans, an oft-featured Best Place to Work, is a privately owned regional grocery store operating in an industry where 1% profit margins are the norm. Brandix is a Bangladeshi textile manufacturer with a workforce that’s largely female and includes many people from difficult economic circumstances. Both companies are very different from Google, but we’ve all been rewarded with outsize performance by encouraging employees to bring their whole selves to work and act like owners once they get there.

Any company can do the same, all it takes is the courage to trust the great people you have. #workrules #google #trust

If I told you I had a simple way to make your company 9% more productive, right now, for free, you’d probably call me crazy. So don’t take my word for it – instead let’s look at the data.

After studying the productivity of 308 companies' performance over 22 years, Dr. Kamal Birdi of the University of Sheffield found that there was only one factor that consistently lead to gains in performance: empowering employees. Companies that gave their employees freedom by doing things like transferring decision-making power from managers to employees saw better results than those that didn’t.

So when you’re wondering how to hit this quarter’s target, make sure you look for ways to put more power in employees’ hands. The more they feel like they own the place, the more driven they’ll be for it to succeed. #workrules

Bigar Waterfall, Nature Reserve, Romania
Bigăr is one of the most unusual waterfalls in the world and one of the most beautiful in Romania. According to The World Geography, there are a number of facts that place her as number one on the list of eight unique waterfalls around the world due to the way the water spreads and falls in tiny shreds of water.

Krubera Cave, Abkhazia – Deepest Known Cave on Earth

The name ” Krubera Cave ” had been assigned by Georgian speleologists in 1960, who had explored the entrance pit. It was named after Russian geologist, Alexander Kruber. It is also known as Voronya Cave, sometime spelled as Voronja meaning “crows’ cave” in Russian. It is one of the many natural caves found in the Arabikka Massif of Gagrinsky Range forming Caucasus between the Black Sea & the Caspian Sea. It is located in district Gagra of Abkhazia, which is the north western region of Georgia (it should not be confused with US State Georgia).

Krubera Cave was declared as the deepest in the world in year 2001 when Ukrainian Speleological Association reached down to 7,200 feet or 2200 meters, breaking the previous world record for the cave Lamprechtsofen, in the Austrian Alps. The project ‘Call of the Abyss’ involved 50 professional cavers from 11 countries since its launch in 2000. There are several hundred caves in the Arabika Massif, out of which only fifteen were explored deeper than 400 meters and five deeper than 1,000 meters.
