Beacon Hill's best-kept secret, this after-work playground for the State House politico elite is a cozy, hole-in-the-wall spot, serving up some seriously stellar pup fare -- the 21st Burger is a favorite, and cheeky cocktails (Prohibition Punch & The Speakeasy) are featured. Originally built in 1899 as a luxury hotel, it's rumored to have been a favorite haunt of JFK, who allegedly wrote speeches by the fireplace. Don't be surprised (read: play it cool) if you stumble into a senator (no joke).

Good place for after-work or late night drinks! It's small, though -- so at peak hours be prepared to stand.

The 21st Amendment is my favorite bar in Boston for no reason that is obvious to me. It's almost dive like in that it's a dark, non-fancy bar, but the clientele is a bit more upscale than would normally be found there (the State House is across the street). Just a very comfortable bar that happens to serve Dark N Stormies. What could be better?
