The Harsh Truth About The Chemicals Being Sprayed On Your Lawn
And how your lawns “Chemical Addiction” will end up costing you BIG MONEY year after year

It’s that time of year when you start to see those big chemical trucks driving all over your neighborhood spraying lawns with their chemical brew.  It’s BIG business and their great at glazing over the many BIG problems its causing to our health, our wildlife, lakes and environment.
Here in the U.S. consumers have become so obsessed with a Green lawn free of ANY weed that they are willing to do anything to achieve it.  Each year, American homeowners use approximately 70 million pounds of pesticides to maintain their lawns, mostly for aesthetic purposes.  While I cant fault anyone for wanting a great looking lawn, the cost of getting it through the above mentioned means is a ultra high risk way of doing it.  As the use of these chemicals continues to grow, researchers continue to uncover the links between pesticide exposures and serious human health problems, including several types of cancer, neurological and reproductive disorders and birth defects.
Every pesticide on the market carries an EPA registration number, but this only means that the active ingredients are listed and instructions for its use are given, including warnings of acute health effects.  Warnings about potential long-term or chronic health effects from the active ingredients are not required.

#HappyEarthDay   Many of the chemicals we use for everyday activities like washing our clothes and cleaning our dishes have never been tested for safety.  Since the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) became law in 1976, the number of chemicals in commercial products has risen from 60,000 to 80,0000, yet the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has required testing on only 200 and restricted just five! - See more at: http://thehealthykey.com/?p=2281

#StateOfTheOcean #CountDownToEarthDay As we get closer to Earth Day and Earth Week, we’re looking at the state of  our ocean & the threats it/we are facing.  The biggest threat to our Ocean’s health is climate change, with its twin super-dangers of rising sea temperatures and acidification.  Below we’ll list the top 6 threats to our ocean health and what we can do to deal with climate change.  But first a couple of stats: there are over 7 million tons of plastic in the ocean.   Plastic is worse than oil because it just sits there, breaks down into little particles and then kills all kinds of fish and birds that eat it.  Plastic bags looks like jelly fish and sea turtles also eat them and die, recently a sperm whale died with a plastic bag in its throat. - See more at: http://thehealthykey.com/#sthash.LZDwsdgN.dpuf
