My first experience at the Cathay was over 20 years ago. I only go a couple times a year. New management has come in since then and the place gets worse and worse every time I go. The service is SOOOOOO slow. There was 10 people in the lounge and I was there for 15 minutes with no waitress in site. The drinks are so weak wouldn't be surprised if there was no alcohol in them at all. I haven't eaten there in over a year, but the food was good the last time I was there, so I can not comment on that. The lounge felt like it was 50 degrees. The waitress saw me put my coat in the coat room when I came in and said "it's cold in here, better leave your coat on" Really!, who about you ask them to turn up the heat. I honestly do not know how this place is still in business. I wonder what the board of health would say about the temperature in the restaurant! I'm done, this is my first and last review and visit to the Cathay. They should be ashamed!

The stench of mold and mildew burns your nose the moment you walk in the door. The carpets front to back are disgustingly filthy! Stains galore!! No wonder this place is commonly known as Cathay Pathetic. The decor has not changed since the 70's!

The experience my husband and I had at Cathay Pacific was NOT a good one! I do NOT recommend it. First, the table the waiter showed us to, the table cloth had visible worn spots. Then, the waiter insisted that we place our drink order and our food order because the Bartender was backed up, so we did. Then our food ended up arriving at our table before our bar drinks! I've never been to a restaurant that our bar drinks arrived before our appetizers. The food was nothing exceptional...the crab Rangoon was oily, never drained properly from the frying process. Once the meal was over we had asked that the remainder of our meals be packaged to take home. Once we arrived home, I noticed that the large bag that the waiter gave to us DID NOT contain the remains of my dinner, only my husbands. Furious, I called the restaurant back and the person who answered the phone was rude, and when asked if I could speak to the manager told me that the manager was not at the restaurant. I then asked for the assistant manager and was told he wasn't there either and that it was my fault for not looking in the bag! Terrible experience...will never go there again!

Had shrimps with oyster sauce. Strangest "oyster sauce" I've seen so far. It was a starchy-thick brown goo that only faintly resembled real oyster sauce. I guess some people like it there because they serve large portions and are relatively inexpensive. Should have known better when it said Chinese AND Polynesian cuisine.
