Found this through Hacker News:
http://www.strikemag.org/bullshit-jobs/

From the article:
"Say what you like about nurses, garbage collectors, or mechanics, it’s obvious that were they to vanish in a puff of smoke, the results would be immediate and catastrophic. A world without teachers or dock-workers would soon be in trouble, and even one without science fiction writers or ska musicians would clearly be a lesser place. It’s not entirely clear how humanity would suffer were all private equity CEOs, lobbyists, PR researchers, actuaries, telemarketers, bailiffs or legal consultants to similarly vanish. "

This is basically the reason that I think reward for ones labour should be the inverse of the amount of the power one have over others (and possibly also to the amount of freedom in ones own work). Sure, it'd be impossible to measure precisely, but hey if we try to move in that direction I'm sure that we'd get closer to a healthier society.

And finally:
"... what does it say about our society that it seems to generate an extremely limited demand for talented poet-musicians, but an apparently infinite demand for specialists in corporate law?"

I wonder this too...

Yesterday I tried out #xmonad at home on my laptop instead of Awesome  WM. I really like tiling window managers now and I think it's less straining to use since I don't need to move my hands off the keyboard. So far so good at least and as a bonus I'm getting curious about #Haskell. So maybe it is time for "Learn You a Haskell for Great Good" (such an epic title)!

For all typography nerds out there!
Ok so the first set of t-shirts is up on #society6 . Less cash for me but I don't have to worry about printing costs so thats fair. Anyway "buy my #tshirts tuppence a bag, tuppence, tuppence, tuppence a bag"!
(Share if you wanna, I'd be happy if you did and if there is some kind of illustrator God somewhere I'm sure he/she/it will bless you in the afterlife somehow)

Created a little bash script that creates a public gist on github of whatever is selected and puts the url to that gist in your clipboard. Make a keyboard binding for the script with for instance "xbindkeys-config" (I use ctrl+shift+c) and you get instant sharing for on https://gist.github.com :)

Oh almost forgot, you need to create a OAuth token that you supply to the script. Spread the luv!

Just received my new notebook and now I get to pick a name. It will be known as Buer, after a demon (all computers are demons you know) who "teaches Natural and Moral Philosophy, Logic, and the virtues of all herbs"
