Wife and I went here for the first time last night and absolutely loved it. We arrived about 5:40 (right before the dinner rush) and immediately got a table. Service was great, and the food was delicious! I definitely recommend this place and suggest that you come with an appetite, the servings are huge!

AMAZING!!! This is by far the best food in Seattle. I had Miss Choo Choo’s company’s Commin’ New York Steak and it was absolutely mouth watering. This is definitely a must visit when in Seattle. More like 10 STARS!!!

Every time I go to Kingfish Cafe it's always a pleasure. The wait staff is attentive and always on spot with their service and the food reminds me of home. The fried chicken is the best in the city. If you haven't been here you must check this place out!

I had hoped that Kingfish would become my oasis for fried green tomatoes and the same for fried chicken for my partner. The best fried green tomatoes are juicy and tangy on the inside with a crispy cornmeal crust. Kingfish's were nearly-dried slices with a whisper of a non-crispy crust. The seasonings of the batter and the sauce (which was delicious) drowned the tang I expect of green tomatoes. The accompanying hush puppies, however, were seasoned to perfection and saved the dish. Ultimately, though, they have no business saving a dish of simplicity that is fried green tomatoes. I am not from the south, but I do enjoy fried green tomatoes. I once brought my own tomatoes to my favorite Memphis-style BBQ joint after the owner said he would gladly prepare it even thought it wasn't on his menu (not enough folks ask for it). Kingfish's may be a version I'm not familiar with, but I would not order it again. :( Upon being presented with the fried chicken, I was dismayed to see that they appeared to be overcooked. My partner commented immediately on that as well. Thus, most of the crust was discarded to the side of the plate since they were well past golden and were seasoned with a nearly singular flavor of celery seed. Instead of the promised leg, thigh, and breast pieces, I got a piece of rib with scrap breast instead of a thigh. My partner knows good fried chicken and says that rather than being overcooked, he believes that, based on the color and flavor of the crust, the fry oil was past its change date. My partner did appreciate what he thought was a sage-infused gravy on the mashed potatoes. Despite my preference for collards (a top five vegetable) simply sauteed with olive oil and fresh garlic, I decided not to substitute out Kingfish's collards even though every long-cooked version I've had elsewhere was either bland or too vinegary. Kingfish's collards was tangy, slightly sweet, and spicy, and, thus, was a perfect accompaniment to the rest of the entree. While the collards was my favorite bite of the meal, it is assertive in flavor so I would not eat an entire plate of it. Our table shared the red velvet cake, and it was my second favorite bite of the meal. Kingfish's prices are on the high side. One of my colleagues ordered the shrimp and grits, and since I love grits, I nearly ordered it instead of the fried chicken. For $21, the portion would have left me hungry. The staff was very cordial and Leslie's smile to us as we left broke my heart even more than the fried green tomatoes and fried chicken. That kind of smile melts hearts.
