Chasing the Sun EP 4 Session Report

[If you're interesting in playing we play every two weeks]

The party moved through the woods in the general direction of the rebels. Supposedly they were guarded by Magemasher Wolves, known for eating mages much to Nareth's dismay. The howling confirmed their suspicions. Recalling the wolf talisman they received from rescuing the lone wolf a few nights before Swift Foot Jinn stood in an open clearing and shouted using his Aeromancy to extend the range of his voice while the rest of the party waited in the brush. The Mage-eating Wolves diidn't waste anytime in locating them. After some tense diplomacy and some common sense offered by Comleth the Fireweaver the wolves agreed that the party earned and did not steal the wolf talisman and so brought them to their Alpha Matron Wolf, some 20ft long and 12ft tall wolf that's lived for over a hundred years.

They proved themselves in her eyes and avoided getting eaten, the wolves gave spoke on the party's behalf to the rebels and the Rebels using the ancient term "Lithari" agreed to aid the party, as well as taking the comatose red armored warrior for safekeeping. The party set off with gifts in hand but not without being harassed by the forest spiders once again, this time led by a Monocle'd Wizard spider. Jinn's walking stick and Comleth's flaming fists of fury squashed most of them while Nareth's deadeye blew apart the Wizard spider earning him another mage scroll in the process. The party made it to the edge of the woods soon to enter the undead ridden badlands where the ruins of El-Danar and their prize reside.

Still there is a bit of mystery left. Who is this bald red-armored giant, legends tell of a warrior but the mage-wolves claim he is the bringer of death to all. Their ally commandar Kasbar mentions the 'Lithari" were stories spoke of them as a new type of people possessing incredible telepathic potential. The old sun looms on the horizon and washes the land in red, soon night will fall and the horrors of night will walk the earth. Build the fires bright, next session the nether spirits walk the earth.

Chasing the Sun: EP3 Session Report

After escaping from the giant spiders lair the party moved into the border town of Masadune. There they were discontent to learn the Fire Lord's forces were occupying the town so easily but raising the ambient levels of heat to oppressive levels to keep the populace subdued. They learned of a group of rebels wearing masks of an ancient people.

Using their companion commander Kasbar they arranged for a meeting with the town's garrison commander M'Quve. Indulging in a fine feast and light conversation they pried some good information out of him and even procured the mask of an executed rebel spy. Nareth the knife used this to scry the location of the rebels and they sought out to meet them.

Hopefully the comatose 7' armored man, spoken of as a great warrior in legends would be of some use to them in their rebellion. Overall, the party wanted to remain neutral since the Fire Lord had paid them handsomely for a mission after all.

Chasing the Sun Hangouts Edition EP 3

I'll be running another Chasing the Sun game this Friday night April 7th, approx. 8PM PST all are welcome. This is a low-magic elemental themed game with an emphasis on quick play and clever party tactics. Bonus experience awarded for puns and terrible dad jokes.

If you'd like to join us comment below!

------------------------------------------
The party was hired by Fire Lord Keldin who's army led by Fire Drakes have been sweeping south conquering numerous territory on the island looking to retake the South Typhon throne, his claimed birthright. His army has stalled out recently after a major siege that killed a number of his Fire Drakes.

Rumors abound of a shard of the sun kept in the ruins of El-Danar to the west where the dead are rumored to walk and great men of metal guard the gates. Should you retrieve the shard or confirm that it is a fake planted there by Lord Keldin's enemies you will be graciously rewarded with 1500 coins. An additional 500 coins will be paid if you manage to seal off whatever dark portal is allowing these nether-spirits to pour into our world. A tempting reward, the Sun Shard itself is priceless for those of you with less than noble intentions.

In our last session the PCs rescued a number of cocooned hostages from a giant spider colony on the way to the El-Danar ruins. New characters will wake up as the slumber poison wears off.

--------------------------------------

FLAILSNAILS characters (non-magic users) are welcome but new characters are preferred. Here are the highlights of the system we use.

-HP is dynamic rather than static. Roll your HD for each adventure, skilled combat rewards you with extra Hit Points after every battle, if you're lucky or cautious you may have more than what you started with.

-Success in attacking and dealing damage is based off your choice in weapon rather than strictly your level.

-The overworld is cursed and nightfall brings out all the evils of the world. Keep the fires lit bright and don't wander off or you'll find the night itself has teeth.

-Everyone has a favored element that confers resistance and weaknesses and the ability to use certain potent items and weapons.

Chasing the Sun playtest Hangouts Edition.

From where we left off the party wanted to get revenge on those Spiderjerks that got the jump on them earlier and captured some party members.

The party followed them to a petrified gargantuan bee hive the Spiders had taken over. Due to some smart stealthy playing, brilliant use of gear to fly around and blow up the floor/ceiling combined with a healthy dash of Aeromancy the party successfully flogged some spiders, rescued their cocooned allies and avoided being eaten by a two-headed stone serpent.

Well done. Looking forward to the next game!

In case you guys haven't seen this yet.  The Magical Land of Yeld looks like FFT mixed with a children storybook, albeit a bit bloodier than I expected.  Rules are introduced with comic strips which I love and is a format I've used in the past.  20 days left so check it out!

If you're looking for a 100% kid friendly RPG I'll recommend Dungeon Teller by +Doug Anderson
