A great shot at one of my favorite places...

MORNING SKY
Anglesea, Victoria, Australia

This large rock looked a little out of place on the Anglesea beach when I visited yesterday morning. It seems to be made of different material to the other rocks, and definitely different to the cliffs nearby. It does however make a great prop for my image today and the beautiful colours in the morning sky show it off to perfection. I also love the ripples in the sand where the lapping waves have sculptured it. It still amazes me how puddles form around rocks resulting in reflections of the sky and of the rock. I really enjoyed my photo shoot on this beach and will show you more of the photos in the coming weeks. (1691)

Is your Phone Charging?
I've never taken any real notice of the messages my Android Phone puts on the screen about the charging, until last night. Why, well I noticed the message was "charging slowly" , what! slowly no I want it fast!!
So I started to experiment. My Phone has three messages it seems "charging slowly"; "charging"; and "charging rapidly". (think slow, normal, fast)
I quickly improved the matter by changing the usb cable I was using, it went straight to charging.
I got it to charging rapidly by changing to my main wall charger.
So all USB Cables are not equal.
I went through my cables and tested each in their ability to charge the phone. I used my best wall charger (Anker) three (3) cables would only charge slowly - these were all very skinny cables so I assume the wires are too thin to provide enough power.
I also had two (2) that were thicker but there was so much dust on such on the pins they they would charge intermittently, 1 I was able to clean the other I binned. In all I through out 4 cables!
Now to test each charger as well ......

I have also found that, on my Nexus 5, if I plug into a 2.1A outlet, I get 'charging slowly'.
But unintuitively, when I change the same cable to a 1A outlet, it changes to 'charging' and actually charges faster.

Why full leather on a bike should be mandatory!
Western Australia Police has shared one of the "interesting" images captured by its speed cameras showing a motorcyclist in shorts and a T-shirt coming off his bike. "From time to time our speed cameras capture some interesting things," a police Facebook post read. "Last Sunday, 20 March 2016, ...

The #GreatBarrierReef is no more - we have already lost 75% of it.  WOW - listen to Dr Karls explanation.

A really great explanation by of what is happening with Australia's Great Barrier Reef which is dying off at an alarming rate. This will have a flow-on effect to many industries who rely on the natural wonder of the marine park for survival. #Australia

When shooting one ping-pong ball isn't going to cut it.
We don’t envy YouTube user JoergSprave having to bring his odd weapon through customs, but we do go a bit green with envy that his job consists of building beauties like this.

Can I finally learn how to take great photos?
Introduction
Have spent the past 20yrs as 4x4 enthusiast exploring a lot of out of the way places.
Now I've moved on, sold the 4x4.  Yes I miss it but now preparing a T5 Campervan, and ongoing exploring. After all the hard yakka of 4x4 a campervan feels like luxury.
As well I'm starting to learn Photography with my Nikon.  So I'll be able to capture our trips.

I'm an IT Nerd as well, and offer onsite IT Support to small business and home users.

This is the second time we have stayed here the first was my last trip to Vietnam 10 years ago. The Hotel has had a major renovation then and its in very good repair. The staff were excellent and went out of their way to assist us. We arrived on the first day of Tet, all the streets around the hotel were closed off for the the holiday gave the place a great feel. We did not use the breakfast facilities or any of their western food, we were here to enjoy the Vietnamese food. and all the places nearby were great. The Lemongrass Restaurant on the 14th floor was fantastic, great Vietnamese food with great view. Loved it so much went again the next lunch and were not disappointed. I did here a few tourists complaining but they were not prepared for Tet and what it means to the Vietnamese people, they all just sounded like grumpy westerners. We had a great time and will use the hotel again.

This is a fabulous looking true Palace converted to a Hotel. Its a must see in Pakse. Its unfortunate the Lao people do not have the funds to maintain it to the level it deserves. Our room on the Third floor was huge, and comfortable, but showing the restrictions on maintenance. The views from the open verandahs are amazing. The hotel advertises at the front door and in the elevator the cocktail bar on the top floor, yet while its there it was never open in the 5 days we stayed. However its worth the visit to use the open area to see the 360 degree views amazing. The free breakfast was Ok but not extensive and after the second morning we used the Coffee Shop across the road. Some of the staff were good but overall the hotel does not get the idea of tourist service. I think this is more a Lao thing as tourism is still new for them. Still we enjoyed our visit.

LaManna has quickly become my favorite supermarket. It puts the Super in supermarket. Its more like a Market with great space, Aussie fruit and veg, and great range of specialist products. Unlike the Name brand supermarkets at Lamanna you not confronted with limited range. I can get what I want. The Cafe is always packed all the locals love it. I now travel past a dozen other coles and woolies to use lamanna to do our Big shops and use my local for top ups only. Go there you won't be disappointed.
