This PURRpetrator was behind bars trapped in a storm drain near Zephyr Angels Preschool on 5th St at South Ave until ZFR's Lieutenant John McClellan and Firefighter/EMT Kyle Fenton along with ZPD's Field Training Officer Wainright and Officer Healy (not pictured) came to his rescue. Thanks to these first responders for preventing what could have been a CATastrophe. :)

Do you have unused or expired medications in your home?

The Zephyrhills Police Department and Drug Enforcement Agency are participating in a pharmaceutical take-back initiative where community members can drop off unused or expired prescription medications for safe disposal.

The Pill Drop is scheduled on Saturday, April 29, 2017 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Zephyrhills Police Department. Citizens can simply drive up, drop off the unwanted medication, and drive away. No personal information is needed or will be requested. ZPD will then properly dispose of the medications. This prevents unwanted drugs from getting into the wrong hands or being flushed away or thrown in the garbage, which can end up in the county dump and in our water supply.

The location for the Pill Drop is:

Zephyrhills Police Department
6118 8th Street
Zephyrhills, FL 33542
(813) 780-0050
(Behind Zephyrhills Post Office)

What to bring to the Pill Drop:
• Expired or unwanted prescriptions/over-the-counter medicines
• Vitamins & Herbals
• Veterinary medications
• Over-the-counter medications

[NOTE: No needles, syringes, or liquids will be accepted.]

Lasupta Markhet Singletary, Jr. and Thomas Walter Day III, both age 17, were arrested by Zephyrhills Police Department detectives at #ZPD on 4/19/17 at 11AM and 2PM, respectively, for armed burglary in connection with the burglary of Sunshine State Armory that took place on 4/9/2017. A blue Toyota Tundra stolen from Pinellas County was used to force entry through the front of the business where 19 firearms were stolen. The truck was later found burned approximately 1.5 miles east of the business in the area of Airport Rd & 6th Ave about an hour after the crime was committed. A witness observed the defendants at their residence several hours after the burglary with a large duffel bag containing guns. Video surveillance obtained by ZPD from area businesses show one of the defendants wearing the same red sweatshirt as was worn in the commission of the crime and also the stolen truck purchasing gas. Additional arrests are expected in this case.

If you have any information regarding these arrests or the remaining suspects, please contact the Zephyrhills Police Department at (813) 780-0050.

Used needles and other sharps are dangerous to people and pets if not disposed of safely because they can injure people and spread infections that cause serious health conditions. Never place loose needles and other sharps in the household or public trash cans or recycling bins, and never flush them down the toilet. This puts sanitation and sewage workers, janitors, housekeepers, household members, children and pets at risk of being harmed. Pet owners who use needles to give medicine to their pets should follow the same sharps disposal guidelines used for humans.

For residents in the east Pasco area, you may dispose of your sharps properly at the following locations:

Florida Hospital of Zephyrhills (Outpatient Information Desk)
7050 Gall Blvd. Zephyrhills, FL 33541
Monday - Friday 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
or
Bayfront Health Dade City (Main Entrance Information Desk)
13100 Ft. King Rd. Dade City, FL 33525
Monday - Sunday 8:00 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.
