Everything is kept frozen including soup, rice and more.. The food is not fresh and most of the stuff are heated up in microwave. If that is something you like then that is the place for you. I am never going back there.

Where else in Northwest Indiana can you get octopus in your appetizers and finish off with a house specialty port? Great food and service. A Valparaiso tradition for 30 years.

It's more than great food and unbelievable wine...its a cultural experience. A fresh take on Mediterranean cuisine.

I love this restaurant!!! High Quality Food, is just one of the many positive things I can say, along with everyone who has eaten here! My School had an event there a few years ago and we learned a lot about the Spanish Culture!!! We were entertained with amazing Spanish dances! P.S I was never a big Spanish food lover until I ate here!!!!

Our daughter recently asked if we could go to Don Quijote for a special occasion. It had been a few years since our last visit to this place and when our appetizers arrived, we were immediately reminded why we didn't return. If you like "french fried artichoke bottoms," "french fried califlower," "french fried chicken livers," etc., you'll like it here. My appetizer, the sauteed artichokes with cured spanish ham, was barely edible (and I am one who can eat almost anything...). When the waitress came by and picked up my barely touched plate, she didn't even bother asking if there had been something wrong with it - a sign that she's either used to seeing that happen or couldn't have cared less if there was a problem. Things didn't get better. One of our guests ordered the swordfish. It arrived with not only an overly "fishy" smell, but it tasted fishy too - something that shouldn't happen with fresh, well prepared fish. Someone else ordered the Portuguese-style Salad - "crisp lettuce, artichoke hearts, garbanzos, roasted red peppers, onions, olives and sliced eggs." Of these ingredients, most clearly came directly from a can and weren't prepared on site. We had six people in our group and not one had praises for the food, service or ambiance at Don Quijote. It wasn't very busy, so we weren't able to chalk it up to that. We'd rate it as "fair" at best and frankly, it's one of those places that's overrated by most other locals.

This is as authentic as it gets in the USA. We enjoyed every menu item we have tried. Whenever we are near Valpaiso, we stop in.

I must say after wanting to go here for years I finally went to this place. We had a Groupon for it so that was also a deciding factor. The food was amazing. They also had the best Sangria I've tasted in a while (as my mom put it it tastes like the homemade Italian red wine my great grandma used to make). I was very cautious about their food because Spanish food is my favorite. I have been to Spain so I know what good Spanish food tastes like. We ordered the Gazpacho first and that was great, I really have no complaints. Then we ordered the Seafood paella, which tasted just how I remembered it in Spain. Amazing! The portion was also huge! For two people? I would say more for four people. All the seafood was cooked perfectly. We toward the end of Lunch, so there wasn't many people in there, which I like Because then you talk with who you are with. Toward the end, which I assume was when dinner was starting, more people starting coming in, also the phone started ringing for reservations. This place is truly a hidden gem in NW Indiana. Perfect Spanish food, if you love Spanish food this is the place for you! I would highly highly recommend this place to anyone!! The servers were also great and very personable, which helps! Oh I also forgot I had the flan... also very good!
