When will someone take IE out back and put it out of OUR misery?
Firefox 13 is out and it's all about speed, and with Chrome and Opera also introducing new versions of their browsers, we thought it time for another browser speed test.

What many of you felt for Steve Jobs' passing I feel today. Without this guy I'd probably be digging ditches.

And yes, "Hello world" really was the first computer code I ever wrote, on an Apple IIe with green monochrome screen.

int main(void)
{
printf("Goodbye dmr\n");
return 0;
}

Also interesting given Dell's recent announcements and forecasts. There's also talk of breaking up HP. Does this give some of the niche tablet and mobile device makers a bigger opportunity to play in a larger arena? We'll see.

My favorite quote for the day from a CIO mag article.
"According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, there were just under 3.3 million people working in IT-related technology jobs in the United States as of May 2010. But because the bureau has been hurt by budget cuts, it will not publish more current statistics until well into 2012."

Great post by +Laurie Buczek
Enterprises with several years of social business efforts have failed to reach the tipping point and cross into mainstream adoption of social collaboration .

+Susan Scrupski < it is something I said at the time because of the very points this practitioner notes as representing the heart of the problem. Put in my terms: content without the context of a business process is meaningless.

The fact it hasn't changed that much over the ensuing years should say something. I only have to look at Jive's S1 to realise that when one of the leaders hasn't got close to a $100 million business in a space everyone thinks is exploding then it really is small beans.

Two scary things here. 1) Restricting free speech; 2) that a recent survey found that 37% of British teens prefer BlackBerrys to other smartphones.
British Prime Minister David Cameron thinks he's found some culprits to blame in the recent riots that have rocked London and other cities -- Facebook and Twitter.
