Praia da Amoeira is another beach on the wild coast of Sintra.  Located just beside Cabo da Roca, mainland Europe’s most westerly point, the sea is always wild, the beach is covered with rocks and access down the 100m high cliffs is along a very steep path, so it gets very few visitors  The evening I captured this image the light and sky was beautiful, but the wind was fierce making photography next to the sea a little challenging.  It’s a wonderful beach with a special energy, and one that I’m looking forward to returning soon.
Incidentally, while shooting this the weather sealing on the X-T1 was given a pretty severe test, as was the XF10-24mm (which isn’t classed as weather proof).  They both dealt with a drenching without any problems at all.

Another image from a shoot at Praia da Adraga a few weeks ago as a photographer battles with the tide as sunset.  I think we all got pretty wet that day.
There haven’t been many clouds recently so it’s not really been the conditions for landscape photography, but I’m looking forward to getting back out again and shooting some more of the local coastline.

Praia da Ouriçal on Portugal’s west coast has to be one of the most dramatic beaches in the country.  It’s right next to Cabo da Roca, mainland Europe’s most westerly point, and access down the cliffs is quite challenging.  The path twists and turns getting steeper and steeper until it’s no longer a path but actually a climb that needs to be negotiated using a rope.  It’s worth it though, the beach is made up of huge round rocks and some fantastic sea stacks, and it’s easy to get so carried away with shooting that you completely forget that you have to climb back up the cliffs again in the dark.
