Applebee's: Select locations of this all-American chain offer free kids meals (with the purchase of an adult entree) on certain weekdays.

Bennigans: The neighborhood pub invites kids to eat for free on Tuesdays with the purchase of 1 adult entree.

Bob Evans: This family-friendly chain serves American classics with a country feel. Kids eat free on Tuesdays after 3 p.m. with the purchase of an adult entree.

Cici's: Cici's offers a variety of kid-centric bargains. At many of their restaurants, kids eat free on Tuesdays with purchase of an adult buffet.

Denny's: Depending on the location, children under 10 eat for free once a week at this classic diner/coffee shop with the purchase of an adult meal. Offer available from 4-10pm with the purchase of one regularly priced adult meal.

Dickey's Barbecue Pit: If your family enjoys barbecue, head to Dickey's Barbecue Pit for house-smoked meats. Kids 12 and under eat free on Sundays! Dine-in only. Must order from the kids menu.

IHOP: Breakfast for dinner is always a fun way to get the family together. IHOP frequently offers "kids eat free" promotions, with no charge for a child's meal when you purchase an adult entree. Specific offers vary by location, but typically freebies are Monday or Tuesday from 4-10pm; offered to kids 12 and under.

IKEA: At some IKEA locations, kids eat free on Tuesdays at the store's Swedish-themed restaurant, with purchase of an adult meal. All IKEA locations offer free baby food for every adult meal purchased in the restaurant.

COOKING TIPS with Chef Paul

Think like a factory line, and work clean. Say you've got four onions that need to be peeled, finely diced, and transferred to a large bowl. If you do each of these steps to each onion one at a time, you spend a lot of time moving back and forth between the board, the compost bin, and the bowl, picking up and putting down your knife, and mentally preparing yourself for the next task.

Instead, work like a factory: start by cutting off the end and splitting all of the onions. Next peel all of the onions. Then make all of your horizontal cuts, followed by all of your vertical cuts. Finally, transfer all of your perfect dice to the bowl and clean down your board and countertop before you move on to the next task.

Apply this kind of thinking to all of your tasks and you'll find that the time you spend in the kitchen will not only be more efficient, but also neater, cleaner, and more organized.

Questions You Should Ask Yourself Before You Assign Your Own Themes:

1. What are my family’s very favorite meals?
Make a list! Ask your husband and kids to chime in.

2. Now look at that list, do you see any patterns?
You want to consider themes that help you make your weekly decision more easily. It should be broad enough to give you options but narrow enough to shorten that list.

3. Consider your goals.
Want to start making better use of a few particular cookbooks? They can be your go-to sources for some of your weekly themes.

4. What do you need help remembering?
Use one night of your themes to help be your Post-It note reminder to work towards your goals. Ideas could be: Seafood Night, Make our own takeout, Grilling, Vegetarian or Try a New Veggie Night, Use my baking stones Night, Eat from my Freezer/Pantry Night.

5. Look at your schedule, which night is your busiest?
Do you have more than one? Consider time-saving meal themes.

6. Which day of the week is best for you to grocery shop?
Plan your weekly rotation starting either that day or the next. i.e. Meal plan on Sunday, shop on Monday morning, the week starts Monday evening.

PASTA SAUCE by Arthur Furman

1 pound Italian Sausage
28 oz. can FURMANO’S Tomato Sauce
As Needed Sea Salt
As Needed Old Bay Seasoning
1 Large Onion, Diced
1/2 cup Butter
2 cups Mushrooms, sliced
As Needed Garlic
1 cup Red Wine
1 1/2 pounds Pasta

1. In a frying pan, saute sausage; put aside.
2. In a pot, slow cook the Furmano's Tomato Sauce and spices.
3. In frying pan, saute onions in butter until slightly brown. Add mushrooms; set aside.
4. Add the meat to pot of sauce.
5. Add the onions, garlic and mushrooms to the sauce.
6. Add wine to the sauce.
7. Cook for 3 to 6 hours.
8. Serve over pasta with garlic bread.
