Spot on via the Stone mind. What about climbing makes you thankful?

#climbing
I thank the universe for the soft catches and solid spots, for a cooler full of beers after an epic day, for the sun’s warmth on a winter afternoon, and for the rest jug that comes when you’re just about out of juice. His list goes on. It's spot on.

Climbing teaches us so many things. How to push past our fears. How to push past our perceived limits. How to hone body and mind into something that produces results far beyond what we could ever expect. But only if we seek these things out. Because the truth is that the life of ease can be found at the cliffs. I can go climb on routes that are “safe”, within my limits, that I know well, that present little chall...

How awesome is Patagonia! I don't think I know another climbing company that has their own beer.
I already thought Patagonia was awesome...and now they are coming out with their own beer for their 40th? Yes!! The Organic Lager is "tawny in color, medium bodied, with a malty character and earthy hops," according to Patagonia. And of course, the beer is brewed with Cascade organic hops honoring Patagonia's long-standing commitment to certified organics. The name, California Route, is a tribute to the famous route o...

What are your thoughts?

#rockclimbing
I always enjoy reading the thoughtful musings of TheStoneMind. He brings up a good point about what we're really naming (or trying to name) when we give a new climbing route a name. If you think about the famous climbs (Midnight Lignting, Moonlight Buttress, Jumbo Love), you probably hardly ever think about how or if they define that route. Because in reality, they don't. So when naming a climb, a first ascentionist names not jus...

Totally agreed! Not sure many folks nowadays are willing to name a route after themselves. Maybe they should be though. Route names are always fun to dissect.

Shout out to rocks for being so awesome! (Funny read)
Huzzah for rocks! Rocks are good for all kinds of fun things: * You can walk on them * You can ride your bike on them * If you are a rock climber, you can crimp, smear, edge on their features, or jam your hands, feet, fists, fingers and arm-bars in their cracks * You can marvel at their hugeness * You can navigate a raft or kayak between them * You can build a fo...

I've known climbers that should have read this before they took their girlfriends in a climbing trip.

Just replace the word surf/surfing with climb/climbing. Voilà!

Gorgeous write up and awesome story.
Here is a beautifully formatted story about some climbers seeking a barely known climb in France. (at first glance I thought it was another Patagonia report) Plenty of climbing trips have begun with one person sharing a photo of a mountain with another. Each looks at the photo and has a progression of thoughts and questions: That’s beautiful. Where is it? Do I have the skills to climb it?

Good take on how climbing just feels right. Like putting on your favorite sweatshirt.
I'm right with Mr Mind on this topic. Climbing is one of those things that when you can finally get a trip in and get some pitches under your belt, you just feel right. There's not much in life for me that makes me feel that way. Hello Climbing

This place is the best! The service is amazing and normally very fast. You can call in orders for take out and they usually don't take longer than 15-20 minutes. The sushi is also very good. I have nothing bad to say about this place. Eat here!
