I hear you. I believe in the power of storytelling and art in transforming people and reality. I also think that people can relate to something (a narrative in this case) not only through shared experiences but also empathy. Female characters can reflect reality, but they can also do wonders empowering women to take their natural place beside the men not behind them. Those "strong female character" roles are not exceptional to the experiences of women, but are what taken away from women; are what women could have and could be in a society with established gender equality (which reminds us of the dichotomy embedded in this cause). So yeah we do need these "exceptional" characters, not to see us in them, but to see what reality can be.

It's official: our universe is a nightclub; dark space, traveling noise, and now alcohol and sugar. let's dance!
Living up to its name, the Comet Lovejoy was found to release prodigious quantities of both alcohol and sugar into space. What’s more, the alcohol in question here pertains for the very first time to ethyl alcohol, the same type used in man-made alcoholic beverages. Of course beyond just jokes, this discovery alludes to a very significant scope – which could have entailed the formation of complex organic molecules on the comet source as building blocks of life.

the more "evidence" fb IS the Big Brother: it "tracks" its users and tells them it does so for their own good; "busting" governments on their behalf

Our brand of civilization(s) works toward one end: money=power, and power not only over one's life but over the lives of everyone else majorly the people with far less money. i'm all for curbing power and minimizing the ways one group of people take over the lives of other people. with maximum wage we might finally have the chance to invest in things that are more rewarding to us as humans: the feeling of belonging, security, and such

Today on The #TranslationTarjamah health.com's article on what to say and not to say to people living with #depression . For an ordinary person, having someone (especially a loved one) with depression in their life can be challenging in many ways (starting with not understanding how life is to them) to both parties, so saying the wrong thing or not saying the right thing can further strain the relationship, while knowing what to say and how to effectively give support can be very helpful.

personally, i think it's most annoying when someone thinks their time-to-time-ordinary-depression is the same as the mental illness known as depression. just thinking it makes every attempt to explain to them how you feel and what you go through futile, and if they cannot even begin to understand or acknowledge, then you may kiss your hope for their support goodbye.

إذا كانت في حياتك مريضة بالإكتئاب فهذه القائمة بما يقال و ما لا يقال ستعينك في محاولتك دعمها و مساندتها.

Today on #Saphiophile Annalee Newitz's article about the #IncaEmpire   and its strange wealthy #economy that was based on #agriculture and knew no #market or #money , although, certain people still had to work to access food and other necessities. Exactly as the case has been for humans for ten thousand years or so

Today in The #TranslationTarjamah a #parable about a fisherman and a banker, and the issue of the #RatRace : what's the point of working so hard on making a living if we're not going to actually live our life?

While the parable is excellent at doing what parables always do, I'd still say that under the system on which our civilization works, having the extra money gives people privilege and (unfair) access to extra things which demonstrably and effectively affects the lives of those who choose to spend just the bare minimum amount of time on making  money enough to cover their basic needs, and spend the rest of the day enjoying other activities. So, while yeah we need to get out of the rat race, we also need to change the very nature of civilization as we have to know it.
