Join MPL’s Adult Winter Reading Program & explore the world around you. Get in touch with new ideas, feelings, experiences & ways of understanding that you find in books. Maybe you will discover a new favorite!

Read and log in at least 6 books this season to earn a nice thank you item from the library, while supplies last. If you complete more than six books, you'll be entered one time into a drawing for additional prizes.

Don't forget, tomorrow is the deadline to participate in Food for Fines at MPL!

Patrons of McAllen Public Library have an opportunity to help the less fortunate and help themselves out of library fines with a “Food for Fines” drive.  From October 1st through November 15th, the McAllen Main Public Library (23rd & Nolana), the Lark Branch Library (2601 Lark Avenue) and the Palm View Branch Library (3401 Jordan Avenue) will collect non-perishable food items and the library system will waive $1 from library fines for each item donated.  Up to $10 will be waived per person.

September is National Library Card Sign-up Month and we want to make sure that our community has the smartest card of all – a free library card. Stop by any MPL branch to make a new library card account & receive a goody bag!

As a dynamic community entity, the McAllen Public Library offers services that are available to anyone who has a library card, such as materials and programs that support academic achievement, programs for all ages, computer classes, story hours, book discussions, art exhibits, and movie nights.

A McAllen Public Library card can be used from home, too. Our library offers access to important educational resources, like Mango Languages, Newsbank, Learning Express Library, and Texshare Databases.
