With yesterday's snowfall, I felt that it was only appropriate to dig through our archives to find a snowy scene to share with you today. Let's go all the way back to 1983 for a look at one of our first trains to operate over the line. Quite the mix of equipment, with two borrowed passenger cars, an open air car (converted from a wooden boxcar), and our wooden bay window caboose, all being pulled by a GE center cab diesel locomotive retired from the United States Air Force. That locomotive was later renumbered 2254, the number of charter members who pulled together to help save the tracks over which we operate today. #ThrowbackThursday

If you've ever wondered about just how the new Kate Shelley Memorial Bridge just west of Boone was built wonder no longer. Rail historian Dana Grefe will present a program that shows in detail its construction.

Be sure to visit the James H. Andrew Railroad Museum and History Center to see this special program. He will have many interesting photos you most likely have not seen. It is offered Saturday, February 18th at 2 pm in the museum area of the James H. Andrew Railroad Museum and History Center.

Hope to see you there!

Trains for the opening weekend of our Day Out With Thomas event are continuing to fill up. If you have a particular departure time in mind, it may be a good idea to purchase tickets in advance. The weekend forecast looks absolutely beautiful, with plenty of sunshine, and temperatures in the middle to upper 70s -- perfect weather for taking a ride behind Thomas, and taking part in all of the activities on the grounds of the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad & Museum. And, just a reminder that our basic excursion trains (1:30 PM and 4 PM on Saturdays, 1:30 PM on Sundays), dessert trains, and picnic trains will not be operating during our Day Out With Thomas event. For tickets, or more information, call 1-800-626-0319 or visit www.bsvrr.com. All aboard!
