My Dad died yesterday. He'd have been very proud of Trump and the GOP House for taking away healthcare from millions of Americans that can not afford it. He suffered his last days beyond what is common to most of us. Yet, I am certain he would have revelled in their minor victory.

Even in his own extraordinary suffering, I doubt he moved a hair towards compassion. A Sith Lord until the end. A blue eyed, pale dragon cleverly hoarding gold and heaping hate and disdain upon the disenfranchised and their advocates.

Rewarding his flatterers and sycophants. Four sons whose respect and honor have been bankrupted by the petty verbal cruelty of a corner store cashier. A King Lear with no sons to admire his dapper crown.

He owned the store I quit shopping at. My spirit could not afford the bigotry and blame. A store where change was never made. May the world rest easier with his passing.

Sire, thank you for teaching me how much work is left to do. How a mild man can go so wrong. How cunning, charm and wit are not enough. Even with shelves stocked so full of goods and safes so heavy in gold.

I want a good death. Where my sons mourn my passing with yes-sayers nowhere to be seen or heard. A room full with truth tellers and story makers. A room overflowing with love that spills across the planet. An expansive love with no bounds. A love that hugs the hugless, feeds the poor, comforts the ailing.

I want a good death - an imaginative death that trusts people to be better than I can imagine. A death with an inheritance of love for as many as I can humanly affect.

Like my sire, I want to die rich, only I want a wealth in a currency that he refused to comprehend.

My family has cupboards full of love and bread.

Putting bread in the cabinets and a roof over head is the easy part for us sire. Our greed and arrogance robs us of the only treasure we struggle to secure. You squandered the love of your sons. You died in a poverty that all your money could never touch. What glory you could have known.

No matter your politics, Trump’s first weeks in office have been a disaster, as his rush to action, lack of focus and absence of acuity have led him to calamitous missteps and conspiratorial misstatements.

This song gets to me every time I hear it. BBC Radio 4's Soul Music programme traces the origins of Sam Cooke's 1964 song A Change Is Going To Come, how it took its place in the history of the black civil rights movement, and how it remains relevant in the face of Black Lives Matter today.

A beautifully made programme, well worth 30 minutes of your time.

"I have a son. He's 10 years old. He has computers. He is so good with these computers, it's unbelievable. The security aspect of cyber is very, very tough. And maybe it's hardly do-able. But I will say, we are not doing the job we should be doing, but that's true throughout our whole governmental society. We have so many things that we have to do better, Lester and certainly cyber is one of them." -- Donald Trump

"Is Donald Trump having a stroke?" -- me
